Since it cannot be accomplished without it, it is said to explain that it is not accomplished by its own nature: Heat becomes fire itself. How does that which is not heat burn? Therefore, what is called firewood, its existence is not, without it fire does not exist either. This is because fire is the burner, and the three elements are to be burned. Therefore, what is called firewood, these three great elements are burned only by fire, not by anything else, and only firewood is burned, not anything else. Regarding this, if firewood is burned by hot fire, then at that time the heat becomes fire itself, not firewood. For that which is not heat, burning is also impossible, so that which is not heat is also not firewood. Therefore, in this way, in every way, it is impossible for it to be burned by it, so that which has become the nature of the three elements, what is called firewood, does not exist. When in this way, other than fire, it is impossible for there to be what is called firewood, then firewood does not exist, and fire without a cause is also impossible. Without it, fire does not exist either. Here it is said, firewood is the nature of hardness and so on, so it is a nature that is not heat. It is suppressed by the heat of fire and becomes hot, becomes hot and is burned? If one examines it thoroughly in this way, it is also the meaning of what is called firewood. Even if it is suppressed and hot, then how could it not become fire? If one thinks that the meaning of what is called firewood, even if it is not the nature of heat, is suppressed by fire and becomes hot, then it will become fire itself, because it is the nature of heat. Therefore, it will become the absence of firewood itself. However, if it is not hot, then it is another object, it cannot be said to exist in fire. If one thinks that even if that thing is suppressed, it is still not hot, then, the object other than fire, what is called firewood and the three elements, because they are contrary to heat, therefore the nature that is not heat, it is not reasonable to say that it exists in fire. Therefore, if it becomes only fire that is separated from the three elements, then, for these great elements, because there is no arising without each other, it is contrary to its established tenet. Because there is no other object called firewood in fire, fire will also become without a cause, therefore this

They are human beings! If one thinks that the three elements of earth, water, fire, and wind are not present in the minute particles of fire, and that there is fire even without firewood, then it should be refuted: If there is no firewood in the minute particles, then there is fire without firewood. Therefore, the fault of becoming causeless becomes that meaning. Because of the fault of becoming causeless, one's own school, like the Vaiśeṣikas, should not accept the minute particles of matter. When speaking of the minute particles of the Vaiśeṣikas, it is not refuted because it is prevented from the ninth category. If one is afraid that fire will become causeless and thinks that there is firewood in the minute particles, therefore: If there is firewood in that too, then there is no atom with a single nature. If one thinks that there is firewood in the minute particles, then one should not accept that the minute particles of the element of fire exist in one nature. Since eight substances necessarily arise simultaneously, not only is there no single nature of minute particles, but there are also other things, whatever things are imputed, it and it have no oneness. Just as there is another from it, so the great elements do not have a single nature, similarly, because of the fault of becoming causeless, what is transformed from the great elements is impossible without the great elements. Similarly, without mind, what arises from mind is impossible, and without what arises from mind, it is not mind. Similarly, without characteristics such as birth, there are no characteristics such as form, and without characteristics, the characteristics without a basis are impossible. Because in this way no single thing is established, then without a collection of single things, there is no need to say that many are not established far away, so it is said: If one does not exist, then many do not exist either. If each one is not established, then the collections are not established either. If one thinks that the refutation based on the acceptance of necessary simultaneous arising is reasonable for one's own school, but not for other schools, because it can be conceived that the minute particles of earth, etc., are separate from other things.
