Like it is said: "From where does it come, and where does it go? When examined in all directions and intermediate directions, the going or coming of sound is not observed." Thus, having stated that the sense faculties do not have the ability to grasp objects, it is explained why the mind also does not have the ability to grasp those objects: Separated from the sense faculties, what can the mind do even if it goes? If one thinks that the mind goes to the place of the object and completely cuts off the object, that is not reasonable. Here, does this mind go to the place of the object together with the sense faculties, or alone? If it is together with the sense faculties, then it does not go, because the sense faculties always remain close to the body. If it goes, then it would follow that the body is without sense faculties. If it goes alone, then, separated from the sense faculties, what can the mind do even if it goes? Abandoning the doors of the sense faculties such as the eye, it does not have the ability to see forms, etc., because it would follow that even the blind, etc., would be able to see, etc. If, like something else, one thinks that going to the place of the object makes the meaning clear, then at that time one cannot stop, because there is no ultimate understanding of the meaning. If that is so, then this life is always without mind, how could it not be? If at all times there is only a selfless mind, then it is not reasonable that the absence of mind is the self, because it would follow that pillars and vases, etc., would also become the self. Therefore, when analyzed in this way by reason, the sense faculties, objects, and consciousnesses do not have the nature of existence, so they do not exist by their own nature. If these were to exist by their own nature, then how could the analyses by reason clearly observe them as existing by their own nature? There would be no observation, so it is established that they are empty of inherent existence. If they do not have inherent existence, then what about the concept that is the nature of cutting off the distinctions of those that show as the cause of distinguishing differences?

It is said that if things exist, then, how can the thought that is the very nature of completely cutting off the differences of those things be established by its own nature through those things when it is shown that those things do not exist? If this complete cutting off of the object does not exist in all ways, is it not non-existent? It is not non-existent, because it exists by things that are without self-nature. For example: Whatever object was seen before, the mind grasps it like a mirage, that is called the aggregate of perception in the establishment of all dharmas. Here, when eye consciousness arises and ceases relying on the eye and form, the senses and objects cease together. When it ceases, the object that was seen before is later grasped by the mind. Again, how is it possible to grasp what is not near? It is said to be like a mirage, although there is not even a little water in a mirage, however, due to the power of cause and condition, a thought with the appearance of water arises, similarly, for a mirage, for an object of self-nature that does not exist like an action, once it has been grasped, the consciousness that is characterized by discrimination arises, which is the cause of establishing all dharmas. Because it is the very cause of establishing all dharmas, it is called the aggregate of perception, because it has the distinction and similarity of such a thought. The establishment of all dharmas is also not the cause of the object's own nature, which is to be known by the power of thought, because self-nature is not permissible in all ways. If that is the case, then the aggregate of perception exists by its own nature, because if it does not exist, then it is not possible to establish all dharmas? It is said that that thought is also the same as consciousness, because it has it, it does not exist without that consciousness, and that consciousness is not established without that thought, so it does not exist by its own nature. It is also from this, because, relying on the eye and form, the mind, arises like a magic trick. The support for what is to be produced, the consciousness that will become the cause of arising

It was not there before. Even if there are conditions such as the eye, if there is no self-nature of consciousness, there will be no act of birth, because birth is not allowed. Therefore, this consciousness is not birth. Therefore, what can be determined other than the nature of illusion? The Blessed One said: Monks, for example, a magician or a magician's apprentice shows various kinds of magic at the crossroads of the great road, such as a group of elephants, a group of horses, a group of chariots, and a small army, etc., which appear extensively. If a person with eyes watches, thinks, and reflects properly, then when watching, thinking, and reflecting properly, it will also appear as non-existent, and it will also appear as false, hollow, and without essence. Why is that? Does the magic have any essence? Monks, likewise, any consciousness, whether past, future, or present, or internal or external, gross or subtle, inferior or superior, far or near, a monk watches, thinks, and reflects properly, it will also appear as non-existent, and it will also appear as false, hollow, without essence, as well as disease, tumors, pain, sin, impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. Why is that? Does this aggregate of consciousness have any essence? The Blessed One extensively proclaimed these. Just as the object is, so analyzing, because there is no self-nature, it can be determined that consciousness is like an illusory maiden. Therefore, it is well said in the sutra: Mind arises like an illusion, relying on the eye and form. If its self-nature becomes real, then at that time its self-nature exists where it exists, and it should not be called illusion. If a woman is not empty in nature but exists, then she should not be called illusion in the world. Likewise, if consciousness exists with self-nature, it will not be like illusion.
