Having dug up the earth, they put it into a thicket of thorns of views, and day by day they kill it by cutting off the life force of virtue that is in accordance with liberation. Whoever, like a man, has completely freed himself from that, and relies on the good path, that one who is freed from great hardship and ease, whom the relatives whose hearts are melted by hearing the stories of the past lineage should cherish, like that, which Bodhisattva lineage would not feel compassion for such beings? More than compassion, one should also respect him, and therefore, in order that he may not be robbed again by the snakes of the heretics, one should closely show him the path of no self-nature. Furthermore, why is it that sentient beings, although having good intentions, are mostly associated with the ways of the heretics and not with the Sugatas? That is because it is subtle. Thus, seeing the gross, and aiming at the excellent temples, food, and robes, etc., of the Sugatas, those with perverted views cannot fathom the profound meaning of the Sugata's teachings with intelligence and wisdom, and are deceived by merely seeing and hearing, and therefore they respect the tenets of the heretics. In order to show how the Dharma of the Sugatas is subtle and how the others are gross, it is said: Shakya, the naked, the Brahmin, the Dharma of these three is held by the mind, the eye, and the ear, therefore the tenets of the Thubpa are subtle. The Brahmins make recitation their essence, and that is the object of the ear for them. The naked ones, because they are devoid of pure conduct, the mud of bodily filth grows, they have no clothes, they do not bathe their bodies, they are devoid of cloth, and they endure the roots of suffering such as cold, wind, sun, and pulling out hair. Their tenets are to be understood by sight, therefore their Dharma is to be known by eye consciousness. Shakyamuni illuminated the mind stream with the sun of seeing all things as devoid of self-nature,

Destroying the darkness of ignorance that is obscured and dense with all false views. Seeing conditioned phenomena as similar to dreams, illusions, magic maidens, reflections, and emanations. Those whose minds have become stainless by removing all defilements of afflictions, this is to be ascertained only by those who are thus equipoised. Therefore, their virtuous thoughts should be understood by the mind's consciousness, for it is the subtle doctrine of the Able One. Therefore, even if one uncertainly desires merit, beings will not enter the Dharma of the Sugata. Here it is said: If, because of coarse intelligence, one relies on outsiders to enter, then here too, one should imitate them. The actions of outsiders cannot be imitated, as follows: Just as the Dharma of the Brahmins is mostly false speech; similarly, the Dharma of the naked ones is mostly foolish speech. The Brahmins, through recitations, fire offerings, auspiciousness, and repentance, and other actions, desire to gain profit and respect, etc., from others, therefore they wish to be hypocritical. Their Dharma is mostly hypocritical, meaning that hypocrisy is the main thing. This Dharma is contrary to those who desire liberation, because it is in accordance with samsara. Since accumulation is the cause of the manifest increase of the afflictions that are the nature of intelligence, it was not taught to the Shakyas. Just as the Dharma of the Brahmins, which is mostly hypocritical, is not to be practiced by those who desire liberation because it obstructs liberation, similarly, the Dharma of the naked ones, which is the cause of making the mind foolish, is not to be practiced because it is mostly foolish, therefore one does not imitate such a close teaching. Because the Dharma of these Brahmins is mostly hypocritical, therefore most of the world: Just as from taking knowledge, respect arises for the Brahmins; similarly, from taking afflictions, affection arises for the naked ones. Just as the world, whose mind is pleased merely by reciting, from taking knowledge, respect arises for the Brahmins, similarly,

Compassion arises for those who are naked, from taking up afflictions, such as shaving the head, and exhausting the whole body. It is impossible that the suffering of afflictions experienced throughout the bodies of these people is for the sake of the Dharma, because it is the result of committing sins. To show this, it is said, "How can suffering be the Dharma, since it is the result of karma?" It is said. Just as the suffering experienced by the naked wanderers is like the suffering of hell, it cannot be for the sake of the Dharma, so also for the Brahmins. "Similarly, that which is born of karma is not Dharma, because it is the result of karma." If it is the result of karma, like the eyes and so on, suffering and beings cannot become Dharma, then what is Dharma? It should be said that Dharma, in short, is non-harming. The Thus-Gone Ones say this. Harming is because it involves harming others, that is, the thought of harming sentient beings, and the actions of body and speech that arise from it. Non-harming, on the other hand, is the path of practicing the ten virtuous actions. Any action that slightly benefits others is included in non-harming. Therefore, the Dharma of the Thus-Gone Ones, in short, is non-harming itself. Emptiness is Nirvana, and here these two are the only ones. Whatever is said to be emptiness of self-nature is what the Buddhas, the Bhagavad Ones, have said to be Nirvana. Whatever is the nature of the five aggregates of suffering, which is completely pacified, is Nirvana. When seeing the unborn nature, also because of realizing that the suffering nature is unborn, wrong views have been exhausted, and it changes again in other forms, so it is impossible to be completely certain, so it is thought that it is only the cessation of suffering, and seeing the emptiness of the nature of all things itself is Nirvana, as the Thus-Gone Ones say. If it is said that Nirvana is because the essence of the nature of things no longer arises, then it is not so, because there is no change in nature. Therefore, seeing the unborn nature
