Those followers of non-Buddhists who are completely ignorant of the nature of visible and invisible things will be deceived into the endless cycle of existence. Here it is said: Like bad merchants who are not good at managing wealth, who go to the island of jewels but do not get jewels, because they are deluded by greed, they give up invaluable jewels and take inferior agate. Similarly, those who are not good at the words of scriptures, who are of low intelligence and come to Jambudvipa (the southern continent), because they have cut off the hope of liberation, they are deluded and abandon the Buddhist scriptures, but accept the non-Buddhist scriptures. Furthermore, why do those who desire liberation, see things upside down and follow non-Buddhists? Because they are afraid to hear the Dharma that teaches the emptiness of inherent existence. This fear is: 'I do not exist, I do not arise, I do not cease. My existence is not, I do not arise, I do not cease.' This is the fear that arises from examining in this way. This fear is also due to the long-term habit of clinging to self and what belongs to self. Therefore, even if one has been accustomed to it for a long time, if one is embraced by a virtuous friend, one can remove the stain of clinging to the nature of things. Then, who can go to Nirvana by themselves? Those people do very difficult things. Having become the Buddha Bhagavan himself, he himself approaches the city of Nirvana alone, thus performing difficult deeds, possessing great compassion. In order to guide, like a rein, the excellent one is not, the mind is not happy to go. The mind of one who is not excellent, abiding in clinging to self and what belongs to self, not only is not happy to go to Nirvana himself, but also the mind of one who is not excellent is not happy to go to Nirvana following the guide who performs difficult deeds. Furthermore, why is it that the mind of a person who is not excellent is not happy to follow the guide to Nirvana? Because of fear of emptiness. Furthermore, who will be afraid of this? In order to show who will be afraid, it is said: Not seeing does not generate fear, but seeing transforms everything. Therefore, it must be proven that there is fear of knowing (emptiness) to some extent. For the terminology of the treatises, do not

The ignorant, such as shepherds, etc., even if emptiness is explained to them hundreds of times, they will not follow it at all, because they have not seen the meaning of emptiness, so they will not be afraid of it. It is like being ignorant of things that are destroyed in an instant, or taking the wrong view of the fires of hell as the root. If seen, everything will change. If the Dharma called emptiness is seen, then for those who are wise, all fear will be transformed, because they are free from the cause of fear - attachment to self and what belongs to self. Just as seeing a rope, one will no longer be afraid of the fear arising from the mistaken perception of the rope as a snake. If someone knows only a little and does not understand a little, then he will surely be afraid of being eaten by a ghost. A well-trained elephant will not be afraid even if it is struck by a maddened elephant. Even a very foolish villager who wants to ride it will not be afraid. Because he has not seen the faults of the elephant, such as falling from it, etc. If one thinks that one has realized emptiness, one will not be afraid of it. One who knows only a little, if he thinks that he can ride it, will be very afraid. Furthermore, when doing anything, one who knows only a little will surely be afraid, because he does not really understand, so he will not be fearless. It is also not possible to be completely ignorant, because that is due to ignorance. Knowing only a little will be afraid, because he will think: Can I do it? Can't I do it? And why do these who know only a little, before they have fully understood what is to be known, not seek a higher state? Because of fear. And what is the cause of fear? Because of not being accustomed to it. And what is the cause of that? Because of being accustomed to inversion. In order to illustrate this, it is said: Children are certainly only accustomed to the Dharma that enters into samsara, because they are not accustomed to the Dharma that departs from samsara, so they will be afraid. The Dharma that enters into samsara is the Dharma that is in accordance with the entrance into samsara, that is, the beings who abide in the lands belonging to each sentient being are accustomed to the Dharma that enters into samsara. The Dharma that departs from samsara is in accordance with this.
