And that which exists, like nirvana, will only become permanent. Therefore, just as only nirvana, its future itself will vanish. If the future has not arisen, even so, it will not be imperishable like the unconditioned. In this way, because causes and conditions cause its future object to vanish, it becomes the present. But the unconditioned is not like that, vanishing from its own nature, so it will not become permanent like the unconditioned. Even if examined in that way, even without arising, it will perish. If the future is impermanent, then, is there no destruction in the past? Why not consider it permanent? If you do not want the future to be permanent because there is a disappearance of its own nature, then consider that the past object does not have a disappearance of its own nature, so it is also permanent. Or, what thing can be permanent without being impermanent? When it is not possible, it is impossible for all things to be impermanent, so it will only become permanent. For the time being, the past and the present, this is not impermanent. For the time being, whatever is the present object, there is no increasing impermanence. Because it exists as the present, because it has not vanished from its own nature, it is called the present. Whatever is impermanent will not become the present, because it is clearly related to the non-existent. Since things and non-existent things cannot exist simultaneously, it is also impossible for the present to be impermanent. Similarly, it is also impossible for the past to be impermanent. The past refers to what has been destroyed. Once destroyed, it should not be destroyed again, because there is no need, and because there is no basis, and it will become a fault of being without limit. In that case, for the time being, the past and the present, this will not become impermanent. From impermanence itself, apart from the past and the present, there is no third opportunity, it is said. Apart from those, the third aspect does not exist there. When the arising thing cannot exist on the basis of impermanence, like space and so on, it arises.

To think that it will exist in the future, which is empty of essence, is completely unrelated. The sky and so on, which are separate from impermanence itself, also do not possess the wisdom of contemplating the three times. Similarly, for those who claim that things have inherent existence, the three times are also unreasonable. Here it is said: future things do exist, because if the conditions are present, it can be seen that they arise. Things that did not exist before, like the son of a barren woman, etc., are not observed to arise later. Therefore, from seeing arising, future things do exist. Even if that is permanent, whatever thing arises later, if it existed before, then the views of the heretics will not change. If something does not exist before it arises, and does not exist in essence, and is later produced by causes and conditions, if it is thought that it exists in its own essence before it is produced, then that is the case. The heretics, that is, those who claim that conditioned phenomena with definite individual natures are causeless, devoid of male action, and contradictory to reason, if their promises do not change, then their statements are also not incorrect, because their views contradict seeing and not seeing. According to their view, conditioned phenomena do not depend on male action, so dependent origination will not exist. Because it does not exist, all conditioned phenomena will be as ungraspable as the horns of a donkey, so it should not be claimed that it is ordained by heaven. If it is reasonable to claim that future things exist, then at that time the statements of the heretics will also be reasonable, so it is not reasonable to claim that the meaning of the future exists. This is also unreasonable from this point of view, because, whatever arises, should not be called previously existing, if existing things will arise, then things that have already arisen will also arise. Whatever arises through causes and conditions, that is, is produced, should not be called existing before it arises. If it exists itself, then existence and possession will also arise, but it is also unreasonable for an existing thing to arise again, because there is no need. Again and again in samsara...
