And also, the Dharma was taught in order to practice and in order to attain Nirvana. If those did not exist, then at that time the Dharma teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, would also become meaningless. If it were said that way, it is not meaningless. Therefore, because there is samsara and Nirvana, both things and non-things are established. What is said is that samsara and Nirvana are two. What is said is for the noble ones. If it is said for the noble ones, if it is thought that it is taught to those who have already become noble ones, then how do they become noble ones by teaching them these? If that is the case, then it is taught in order to become noble ones. If that is the case, then by gradually becoming noble ones through hearing and thinking, etc., this is done for the sake of non-noble ones. Those non-noble ones, who are accustomed to seeing things as real in samsara, which has no beginning, if the very good Dharma of Nirvana, which is the characteristic of reversing samsara as an antidote to them, is not taught, they cannot be turned away from attachment to things. The world desires to have great happiness, and if it is shown to them how to approach happiness, they can be turned away from happiness, let alone extreme suffering, etc.? Therefore, Nirvana is taught, to show that it is for the sake of foolish beings. It is said: 'Not seeing the true world and, Nirvana is thought to be clung to.' It is said. Not seeing the truth is called samsara. The world and its cessation are called Nirvana, and these two exist in incompatible opposition and as antidotal things, thinking that one is to be accepted and one is to be abandoned. Therefore, for those who turn their backs on samsara and develop interest in cessation, by teaching dependent origination, they can easily understand the joy of no-birth that should be abandoned. If one understands that things are unborn, then for non-things, what non-thing can be considered Nirvana? Therefore, one can also easily abandon attachment to Nirvana. Like this, the one who has entered the view of suchness and become a noble one: 'With the true view, there is no clinging to the world and, Nirvana is thought to arise.' The noble one does not cling to self-nature.

Those who are thoroughly distinguished by understanding the Dharma, it is meant that both of those (samsara and nirvana) are invisible and inconceivable. Therefore, if it is said that because of the control of the conceptualization of childish ordinary people, there are two, samsara and nirvana, then it is not reasonable to say that there are two, things and non-things. If the two, samsara and nirvana, are not taught to the noble ones, then how can it be reasonable to teach those four noble truths? If these are true for the noble ones, then at that time it can be called the noble ones' truths. If they are connected with non-noble ones, then at that time it cannot be called the noble ones' truths. If that is the case, then how can the eight noble paths be reasonable? Those are not of the noble ones themselves, but those terms are worldly because they have defilements. Therefore, for worldly things, also as they abide, without changing their own nature, to distinguish them, that can also be called noble. Or, the truths that will become noble are the noble truths. For those who have an object, that object is of two kinds, namely, inverted and non-inverted. Among them, the inverted is clinging to happiness and so on, because even in conventional truth, things do not exist in their own nature. The non-inverted is suffering and so on, because things do not exist in their own nature even in conventional truth. The non-inverted is suffering and so on, because things exist in their own nature in conventional truth. Just as it is called a noble term only in connection with this, so it is also called the noble truths. Is nirvana also a conventional truth? It is indeed so, if there is complete conceptualization of samsara, then there will be complete conceptualization of nirvana, because both of these are worldly terms. Therefore, it is said in the Bhagavati Sutra: "Venerable Subhuti, is nirvana also like an illusion, like a dream?" Shariputra, "If there is any Dharma more excellent than nirvana, I would also say it is like an illusion, like a dream."
