Therefore, they also, proceeding from their own tenets, are accustomed to regarding the atoms of earth, water, fire, and wind, and all composite entities, as permanent creators, and therefore they speak of permanent entities. If they abide clinging to entities and abide grasping intrinsic nature, those endowed with supreme intelligence have no wonder at all, for there is nothing to marvel at. Why is that? Because relying on impossible entities is the source of wonder in the world. Relying on possible entities is not like that, because it is reasonable. There is no source of wonder in showing and understanding what is demonstrated as existent from one's own tenets, so it is reasonable that there is no wonder at all. In particular, the Vaibhashikas, the Sautrantikas, and the Chittamatrins, demonstrating entirely the impossible as existent from their tenets, is what generates supreme wonder for those endowed with supreme intelligence. For them: Relying on the Buddha's path, those who speak of all as impermanent, with disputation, disparage those who are attached to and abide in entities. Dependent origination is the Buddha's path; relying on that, all those conditioned things are impermanent because they are dependently originated. Although they acknowledge that, they want to show that entities have their own intrinsic nature, which is contradictory to those who speak of emptiness, and relying on impossible entities is very wonderful, so it is admirable. That great wonder is also astonishing in the world, so it is called marvelous. Like that, even though they speak of all as impermanent and acknowledge the path of dependent origination, showing the intrinsic nature of entities and abiding arrogantly is very astonishing to the wise, like the behavior of a wild donkey colt, like a disguise. Just as saying "I prostrate" to one who is not worthy of prostration, this word of praise, "marvelous," is also a disparagement. Those who acknowledge dependent origination and rely on the Buddha's path, who would say with disputation, "This is the truth," about those things that, when examined, are utterly unobservable? Like form and feeling

And, consciousness, and all other conditioned phenomena, because they arise dependently, are therefore unborn in essence. Whatever is unborn in essence, because its characteristics are not observable, therefore form is not this, feeling is not this, consciousness is not this, other conditioned phenomena are not this, and in no way do they appear in the mind. Thus, whatever cannot be distinguished by anything cannot be pointed out to others as "this." Those who cannot be pointed out, the wise should not argue about. What is called argument is to establish one's own side and refute the other's side. Thus, if nothing is observable, then whatever object is acknowledged and known by oneself, which can be pointed out as "this," is not possible at all. How could it be possible to point out as "this" the false object acknowledged by others? Thus, for those who have not understood the meaning of dependent arising, that is, the meaning of non-self-existence, and have become completely inverted: What do not depend? Those who are attached to themselves or the world, with views such as permanence and impermanence, alas, they are robbed. Those who do not rely on the five aggregates, which are like images, as being without self-nature, and cling to them as self, but establish the mind as the self that is established by its own nature, those people will undoubtedly be driven and carried away by the great river of views from the path of Nirvana. How is it? If they think that the mind is established by its own nature, then it is either permanent or impermanent. If it becomes permanent, then it is saying permanence. If it is impermanent, then it is saying annihilation, because arising and then disappearing is the view of annihilation. Thus, those people, alas, are robbed by views. The word "alas" should be understood as expressing lamentation without certainty. Thus, if one thinks that the world, that is, the five aggregates, is established by its own nature, then it will also become a fault in the same way. Or this is another meaning, that is, the Samkhyas and others who do not rely on, and think that the self is permanent, established by its own nature, depend
