between. This is worldly parlance; one should not intervene in examining this. Limbs and so forth are established in dependence on each other, and not only that, but cause and effect are also mutually dependent, so it is said. Why is that? If a cause produces what is to be produced, and it is produced, then it is a cause; if it does not produce an effect, then it will become nonexistent, becoming without a cause. The effect also, if it has a cause, will arise, and for that reason, these two, cause and effect, if they exist apart from that, know that if one exists, the other necessarily exists. Cause and effect are not inherently existent. If you think that those two are established by their own nature, then, from what does what change, from what before does what change, tell me. Which is established first, cause or effect, from what does cause or effect arise, which of those two becomes cause or effect first? Therefore, the imputation of cause and effect should also be understood as being made like a chariot, not as arising from its own nature. Furthermore, if a cause produces an effect by its own nature, does it produce it by contact or without contact? Let us examine this a little. If your cause produces an effect by contact, then, those produce with one power, and the effect produced will have no difference; if they are different, then this cause will have no difference from non-causes and so forth. Apart from these two, no other conceptualization will arise. Then, if a cause produces an effect by contact, then, the contact is like the contact of the water of a river and the ocean, without difference, so this is the cause, this is the effect, because there is no difference, what can be produced by what? If it produces without contact, then, at that time, just as without contact it does not produce other non-effects, so also without contact it will not produce an effect. Or, if it produces without contact, then it will be produced without a cause. For those who say that cause and effect are inherent, for what is to be produced and what produces, there cannot be a third kind of understanding other than contact and non-contact. Self-nature

It is only that the cause produced by cause does not produce the effect. Therefore, if your cause does not produce the effect, then is the effect knowable or not? When the cause does not produce the effect, the effect does not exist. A cause without an effect is not without a cause. The cause becomes a cause in order to produce the effect. If it becomes a cause even without the effect, then the cause of the cause becomes without a cause, which is not desirable. Therefore, neither cause nor effect exists by its own nature. What do you think? Because both of these are like illusions, therefore there is no fault in me, and worldly phenomena also exist. If it is according to the nature of producing and being able to produce its own characteristics, then this analysis will occur. If it is according to the phenomena that are falsely imputed, the nature of being produced like an illusion without being produced, and even without nature, it becomes the object of discrimination like the hair seen by those with cataracts, then it is inconceivable. Therefore, I do not have the occasion for the faults mentioned above, and worldly phenomena that are established without examination also exist, so everything is accomplished. Here, some people answer: Does the cause produce the effect after contact, or does it produce it without contact? Having said this, the same refutation and examination apply to you as well. How so? Does the refuter refute the object to be refuted after contact or without contact? Saying so, doesn't this fault also fall upon you? If the refuter refutes the object to be refuted after contact, then the same fault will occur at that time. If it is without contact, then the same will occur. Abandoning these two situations, there will be no other realization. When your refuter does not have the ability to refute the object to be refuted, then your refuter itself is refuted, thus implying that the reality of cause and effect is also established.

He said: When speaking such words, only destroying one's own side. At that time, you cannot refute, you cannot rebut. Furthermore, because one's own words also have the same after-effect. Unreasonably slandering all things, therefore. You will not be approved by the holy ones, because. You have no own side, so you are a mere refuter. Regarding this, it has already been said that one's own words will also have the same after-effect. Now, what is to be said is "unreasonably slandering all things." Whatever produces an effect without contact is not necessarily so. What reason is there in this statement? For example, a magnet, without contact, attracts iron that is within a certain range, but it does not attract all iron. Similarly, the eye, without contact, can only see objects that are within a certain range. Likewise, even if it has already been produced through a cause, not all non-contact produces results, only suitable results are produced. Therefore, because you unreasonably slander all things in this way, you will not be approved by the holy ones. Furthermore, you will also become a mere refuter, because you are detached from your own position and only engage in refuting others, such a refuter is called a mere refuter. You do not have any of your own positions, because your analysis is only for the purpose of refuting others. Regarding this, it is to be said: Does the object refuted by the refuter, do the three non-contacting things produce an effect? Or is it produced after contact? If it is said that it is produced after contact, then where is the fault that was mentioned earlier? It is certain that only someone with a position will change, but I have no position. Therefore, it is impossible for an after-effect to occur. As for what you said, "one's own words also have the same after-effect," this will not apply equally to our position. Because in our position, the object refuted by the refuter is neither refuted after contact, nor is it refuted without contact. The refuter and
