Furthermore, a chariot becomes a possessor of limbs by depending on its own limbs such as wheels. Wheels and the like become possessors of parts by depending on parts. Wheels and the like become agents by depending on the act of taking and using. It becomes a taker by depending on its own taking. Some people, misunderstanding the meaning of the scriptures, think that there is only a collection of limbs, but the possessor of limbs does not exist in any way, because it is not found to be different from them. Similarly, there are only parts, but no possessor of parts. There is only action, but no agent. Because taking is not found to be different from the act of taking, there is only taking, but no taker. If one establishes things in this way, according to those who speak falsely about worldly conventions, the same reasoning would lead to the conclusion that even limbs and the like do not exist. Therefore, do not destroy the worldly conventions that are well-known! This is only to be refuted. Because this worldly convention does not exist when analyzed in this way, but exists by convention when not analyzed, therefore, when a yogi analyzes it in this same order, he will be able to fathom the depths of reality most quickly. How so? How can that which is non-existent in seven ways exist? A yogi does not find its existence here. Therefore, one easily enters into that, so here, one should accept its establishment in that way. For a yogi who is close to realization, if there were some entity called a chariot that existed by its own nature, then without a doubt, it would be found to exist as one of the seven modes. But it is not found. Therefore, the name 'chariot' is only imputed by those who have been deluded by the darkness of ignorance, and it does not exist by its own nature. In this way, conviction will arise, and the yogi will easily enter into reality. Moreover, by the word 'also,' conventional truth will not be destroyed. Therefore, it should be accepted that it is established by convention without analysis. Mk.

The wise should undoubtedly commit to this aspect, thinking it is faultless and beneficial. Here it is said that although a yogi does not cling to a chariot, merely clinging to its individual components does not exist. It should be explained that if cotton cloth burns, you are looking for cotton threads in the ashes, what a ridiculous thing to do! If the chariot itself does not exist, then its possessor of limbs does not exist, and its limbs do not exist either. If the chariot exists, then are not its wheels and other components able to be clung to? Therefore, if there is no possessor of limbs, then the limbs also do not exist, why should one say this? That is not so, because only through the cognition related to the chariot does the discriminator think that these wheels and so on are the chariot, but others do not think so. Therefore, they will think that only by relying on their own parts, the wheels and so on themselves are possessors of limbs. The connection of the wheels and so on with the chariot is also completely abandoned, so at that time they are not considered limbs of the chariot. Furthermore, this meaning should be understood from this example: If the chariot burns, the limbs do not exist, just like that. The fire of wisdom burns the possessor of limbs, and also burns the limbs. For example, if the chariot as the possessor of limbs is burned by fire, then its limbs will also necessarily be burned, similarly, the fire of wisdom arising from the friction of discrimination, as a non-clinging burner, completely burns the chariot, therefore, the limbs, which have become fuel for the fire of wisdom, will not stand up for themselves, because they will necessarily be burned. In order not to abandon the conventional truth, and in order for yogis to easily enter Suchness, one should contemplate the method of analyzing the chariot, and rely on it to establish imputation. Similarly, the world commonly asserts that by relying on the aggregates, elements, and the six sense sources, I am also considered the taker. Just as by relying on the wheels and so on, one establishes a chariot, and there the wheels and so on are the takers, but the chariot is not the taker. Similarly, in order not to abandon worldly conventions in the conventional truth, take like a chariot.

It is considered the taker. The five aggregates, six elements, and six sense bases are the proximate cause of that self, because it is nominally designated as self dependent on the aggregates and so forth. Just as spokes and so forth are the proximate cause of a chariot, so too the aggregates and so forth are the proximate cause of the self, it should be said. Just as the establishment of the proximate cause and the taker is established in worldly convention, so too the establishment of action and agent here should be acknowledged like a chariot, it is said: The proximate cause is the action, this is also the agent. The so-called proximate cause, the aggregates and so forth are the action itself, and the self is established as the agent. When truly relying on what is dependent, the self at all times is not the basis of the discrimination of permanence and impermanence, and therefore it is easy to avert the discriminations of permanence and impermanence. It is said: Because it is not real, this is not firm, because it is not non-firm, this is not birth and death. In this, there is also no permanence and so forth, there is neither that nature nor otherness. The self that is nominally designated dependent on the aggregates is neither firm nor non-firm. If that self is non-firm, then at that time, the proximate cause is not the self, those are arising and ceasing, how can what is proximately taken become the taker? It is said. Likewise, it does not arise from what has not arisen, in this fault
