Because it is meaningless, these are also meaningless in meaning. If the elements are separate and distinct, like fire without fuel, they turn to ashes. If they are combined, they become without characteristics, and the remainder is also determined in the same way. Thus, since the elements are meaningless in both ways, the combination is meaningless. Since the combination is meaningless, form is also meaningless in meaning. Consciousness, feeling, perception, and formations, at all times, since their individual nature is meaningless, are also meaningless in the ultimate sense. Just as one makes a remedy for suffering, one becomes arrogant in happiness. Likewise, when happiness is destroyed, one becomes arrogant in suffering. Thus, since there is no inherent nature, one should abandon the craving for encountering happiness and the craving for being separated from suffering. Therefore, liberation comes from seeing in this way. If one asks by what one sees, in conventional terms, it is said to be the mind. If the mind does not arise, there is no mind, and because it is meaningless, one does not desire to have it. Thus, having truly and accurately known the meaninglessness of beings, like a fire without cause, one passes into nirvana without dwelling or grasping. Thus it is said. If one says that only Bodhisattvas see emptiness in this way, that is not the case, as it is said in reference to Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Because it is spoken. How is this known? It should be said that in the end, it is made in reference to Bodhisattvas, and thus even Bodhisattvas, having seen, desire to attain enlightenment. However, they connect to samsara until enlightenment through compassion. Because it is said thus. Also, in the sutras taught to Shravakas, in order to abandon the obscurations of the afflictions of the Shravakas, form is like a bubble, feeling is like a water bubble, perception is like a mirage, formations are like a plantain tree, and consciousness is like an illusion. The friend of the sun thus revealed. Thus, with examples such as bubbles and water bubbles, the water of a mirage, the heap of a plantain tree, and illusion, the formations are definitely analyzed. To show this meaning, the Acharya said: In the Great Vehicle, non-arising is taught.

Others' exhaustion is emptiness. Exhaustion and non-arising are the same in meaning, therefore, please be patient. Likewise, the Blessed One, regarding existence and non-existence, with wisdom, to Katyayana's teachings, established both existence and non-existence. If someone thinks that even in the Hearer Vehicle, the selflessness of phenomena is taught, then teaching the Great Vehicle would be meaningless. Such a view is understood to contradict both reason and scripture. Teaching the Great Vehicle is not merely to teach the selflessness of phenomena. What is it then? It also includes the grounds and perfections of Bodhisattvas, as well as aspirations and great compassion, dedication, the two accumulations, and inconceivable Dharma-nature. As it is said in the Ratnavali: "From the Hearer Vehicle, the aspirations and, conduct dedication of Bodhisattvas are not taught, therefore, how can one become a Bodhisattva? The meaning of abiding in Bodhisattva conduct, is not taught in the Sutra Pitaka, it is taught in the Great Vehicle, therefore, the wise should uphold it." Thus it is said. It is also reasonable to teach the Great Vehicle in order to clarify the selflessness of phenomena, because one wants to explain the extensive content. In the Hearer Vehicle, the explanation of the selflessness of phenomena is only a brief summary. As the teacher said: "Before realizing the absence of characteristics, you said there is no liberation, therefore, you in the Great Vehicle, have fully explained it." Thus it is said. It is enough to mention it in passing. Therefore, those who are not confused can comprehend the suchness of their own meaning, therefore the main text should be explained. At that time, for him, as the cause of perfect enlightenment, first, generosity becomes superior. When a Bodhisattva attains the Joyful Ground, among the ten: generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, as well as skillful means, aspiration, power, and knowledge, only the perfection of generosity becomes most superior, but it is not that the others are absent. Generosity also
