There is no field of activity, and the senses are also absent. It should be understood that just as objects, senses, and consciousness are false in a dream, so it is when awake. Therefore, just as illusory beings are perceived, although they appear, they are not truly real. Such a dharma, like illusion and dream, was taught by the Sugata. Similarly, the cycle of existence of beings is like a dream, in which no one is born and no one dies. Beings, names, and lives are also unattainable, and these dharmas are like bubbles and trees on water. These will also be well explained. Therefore, relative to the consciousness of wakefulness, all three are said to be unborn. In a dream, relative to the consciousness that is dreaming: Just as here, when awake, as long as one is not awake, the three exist. Just as there is ignorant sleep, but some who are awake, different from it and free from sleep, although unborn in their own nature, because of the sleep of ignorance, are dreaming, so they can apprehend, and all three exist. Similarly, those who have not separated from sleep and have not awakened from the dream state also have the three with such a nature. Just as the three do not exist when awake, so it is when awakening from the sleep of delusion. Just as for those who have awakened from the exhaustion of sleep, the three objects perceived in the dream do not exist, so for those who have completely uprooted the sleep of ignorance and directly realized the realm of dharma, the three do not exist. Therefore, without an external object, there is no consciousness. If it is said that those with cataracts perceive non-existent hairs, etc., therefore, even without an external object, consciousness exists, this is also unreasonable. Why? With what mind do the senses with cataracts see hairs through the power of the cataracts? Relative to that mind, both are true, relative to clear seeing, both are false. It should be viewed as one views a dream. Relative to what is seen by those with cataracts, the appearance of hairs also exists, relative to the vision of those without cataracts, both are unborn. Because there is no object, it is difficult to know. This should be considered not to be eaten by demons, thus.

It is not so. If there is mind without knowing the object, then, related to the realm of hair and the eye, even without a cataract, there will be a hair illusion. If it is not like that, then it does not exist. If a person with cataracts does not have hairs, but an awareness with the appearance of hairs arises, then in the place where the person with cataracts sees hairs, when the eyes are directed there, even a person without cataracts will have an awareness of hairs like him, because the absence of an object is the same. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that awareness arises without an object. Here, if the existence of an object itself is the cause of the arising of awareness, then it would become like that. Then what is it? The previously placed habit of awareness, maturity and immaturity are the causes of the arising and non-arising of awareness. Therefore, whoever has the habit of awareness of the sound image placed by others fully matured, only he will produce that image of awareness, and not others. Thus it is said. This is also not right, it is said: Because for the things seen, the power of the mind, if it is not mature, then awareness will not arise. If it is said that it is not because of the lack of knowable things, then because there is no such power, this cannot be established. Separation from the existence of knowable things means that there are no knowable things. If only power exists, then maturity and immaturity will become the arising and non-arising of awareness. Therefore, this cannot be established. Again, how can it be said that there is no power? It is said: It is not possible for the born to have power, and there is no power in the nature of the unborn. Here, when this power is fully examined, is it related to the present awareness, or is it related to the past and future awareness? To this, let us say for the moment that it is not possible for the arisen awareness to have power, because when it is the sixth of power, the awareness has already become the nature of the result, then it is unreasonable to say that it is also the cause. If so, the result will become causeless, and when the sprout arises, the seed will not perish. Therefore, for the arisen awareness, the power
