There is also leakage. Therefore, to show that this exists for the beings to be tamed, it is for the sake of acceptance. As it is said in the sutra: 'Monks, the five aggregates are a burden, and the one who carries the burden is a person.' It's like that. For some, only the aggregates are shown, saying that the mind or the intellect, or the consciousness, is completely imbued with faith and discipline for a long time, and where they go, they will go to the heavens in the next life, and so on. All of these are spoken with intention. What is the intention here? It should be said: the Alaya consciousness exists, and the person also exists, and these aggregates only exist. This teaching is for those who cannot understand such profound Dharma meanings. For those who have long been accustomed to the views of non-Buddhists, they cannot enter the profound Dharma nature, and when they hear the Dharma of no-self, they are afraid, only showing the initial fear, thinking that this guidance is like a cliff, those who turn away from it will not be able to accomplish great things. Initially teaching the Alaya consciousness and so on, it will eliminate the non-Buddhist teachings and lead them to accomplish great things. Later, those who understand the meaning of the scriptures without reversing them will abandon these themselves, and only merits will arise and there will be no faults. As Aryadeva said: 'For whatever one likes, one should first examine that. Those who have degenerated are definitely not vessels of the true Dharma.' That's what it says. In order to guide, it is not only the initial teaching of the Alaya consciousness and so on, but also, even if one has already separated from the view of the collection of ruins, the Buddha also teaches like I and mine, similarly, although all things are without self-nature, but saying that they exist, this is for guidance. Even if one has completely abandoned the view of the collection of ruins, and has abandoned the attachment to self and the attachment to what belongs to me, but in order to become a means for the world to understand me and mine, the Tathagata taught the saying of I and mine, similarly, all
