If something arises, then even flames would produce thick darkness, because it is another thing. That is not visible or knowable, therefore it does not exist. Therefore, cause and effect being another thing, will never be reasonable. If cause and effect are another thing, then cause and non-cause will be the same. Thus it is said. Furthermore, everything would arise from everything, because from all that has become a cause and has not become a cause, all that has become an effect and has not become an effect would arise. Why? Because, all non-producers are also the same. Just as the rice seed that produces is another thing from its own result, the rice sprout, so too are the non-producers, such as fire, coal, and barley seeds. Just as the rice sprout arises from the rice seed that has become another thing, so too would it arise from fire, coal, and barley seeds. Again, just as the rice sprout that has become another thing arises from the rice seed, so too if pots and woolen cloths and so forth also change, that is not visible, therefore this also does not exist. Here it is said, there is also another thing between cause and effect, and it is not the case that everything arises from everything, because certainty is seen. Here, the certainty is this: because it is able to be fully done, therefore it is definitely called an effect. That which is able to be produced by it, even if it is another thing, is a cause. Because it arises from that which belongs to the same lineage and produces, if it is said that the rice sprout does not arise from barley and so forth, then, here the so-called effect, is a suffix with the meaning of being able to do. That which is able to be done by something, that itself is its effect. That which is able to produce this effect, even if it is another thing, is a cause. Therefore, only another thing with a particular characteristic is a cause and effect thing, but not another thing in general. It arises from that which belongs to the same lineage and produces, but not from that which belongs to a different lineage.

Or, from seeds of barley, etc., even if belonging to the same lineage, they cannot produce, because the later moment is not the earlier moment, so wouldn't it lead to the fault of everything arising from everything? Answer: This is not reasonable. For example, the cause of a śālu sprout is only a śālu seed, and not another; the fruit of a śālu seed is only a śālu sprout, and not another. From where does this certainty come? For now, we should ask this person who asserts cause and effect. Question: Because of seeing certainty. Answer: Again, why is certainty seen in that way? If we refute and examine, and answer: Because certainty is seen, therefore certainty is seen. Just saying that much cannot eliminate the fault of failing to point out the cause of certainty, which has already been stated. Furthermore, in order to show that this extremely obvious otherness, which has not completely distinguished the common and the particular, is a harm that exists to the desired view here, it is said: Like barley and saffron, and kingśuka, etc., They do not wish to produce śālu sprouts, nor are they capable. Not belonging to the same lineage, not similar, just so, The śālu seed is also not that, because it is otherness. Like barley, saffron, and kingśuka, etc., because they are other, they do not wish to produce śālu sprouts, and they do not have the ability to produce śālu sprouts, they do not belong to the same lineage, and they are not similar. Likewise, the śālu seed is also not that, it will not become special because of the differences mentioned above, because it is otherness. Thus, for now, we are merely repeating the otherness that is recognized by others, and then refuting it. Now, it is said that the otherness of cause and effect is impossible. The sprout and the seed are not simultaneous, Without otherness, how can the seed become other? Therefore, the sprout does not arise and become established from the seed, Abandon that statement, the tenet of arising from another. Here, only beings like Maitreya and Upagupta can see otherness by depending on each other. Seed and sprou
