This is temporarily a scriptural authority. As it is said in the tenth chapter of the Noble One: 'O sons of the Victorious Ones, when a Bodhisattva on the fifth ground, that Bodhisattva with the path completely perfected, enters the sixth ground of a Bodhisattva, he enters through ten equalities of Dharma. What are the ten? They are: the equality of all Dharmas being without characteristics; the equality of all Dharmas being without substantiality; similarly, without arising; unarisen; solitary; primordially completely pure; without elaboration; without taking; without abandoning equality; the equality of all Dharmas being like illusions, dreams, mirages, cities of Gandharvas, reflections of the moon in water, images, and emanations; the equality of all Dharmas being non-dual in terms of existence and non-existence. When one thoroughly understands the nature of all Dharmas in this way, one attains the sixth ground of a Bodhisattva with keen and compliant patience, and subsequently obtains it,' as it is said. Therefore, here, it is intended that by explaining only the arising and equality of Dharma through reasoning, the explanation of other equalities of Dharma becomes easier. Therefore, the teacher, at the beginning of the treatise on the Middle Way, stated: 'Not from oneself, not from another, not from both, not from no cause. Whatever things, wherever, there is never any arising.' This is an approximate statement. The term 'རྣམ་ཡང་' (rnam yang) means 'གཞར་ཡང་' (gzhar yang). The phrase 'གང་ན་ཡང་' (gang na yang), as a synonym for 'འགར་ཡང་' ('gar yang), explains the place, time, and tenets with dependent words. The word 'གང་དག་' (gang dag), as a dependent word, expresses external and internal things. Therefore, external and internal things, in whatever place, time, and tenets, it is not possible to arise from oneself, it should be understood in this way. Here, the word 'མ་ཡིན་' (ma yin) is not the proof of existence, nor is it arising from oneself and the existence of a monkey, because by negating it, the meaning is established. Similarly, it should be applied to all three commitments as well. In order to argue with reasoning after repeating these four commitments, it is said: 'It is not produced from itself, how could it be from other things? It is also not possible from both, how could it be without a cause? It is not born from itself, that is its meaning.'

It means saying, "What is, that itself does not arise from that." Similarly, the rest should also be applied. Furthermore, how is this determined? Like this: If that arises from that, then there is no quality whatsoever. It is not reasonable for what has already arisen to arise again. "That" means the one that is arising, the agent of the act of arising, which means "sprout." "From that" means from the very nature of that which is arising. Therefore, it is not the case that the very nature of the sprout arises from the very nature of the sprout. This is the meaning of the proposition here. Why? Because, whatever has obtained existence, that itself, when the very nature of the sprout exists, there is no additional quality, because existence itself has already been obtained before. This view of self-origination is also contrary to reason, as it is said, "It is not reasonable for what has already arisen to arise again." Here, it is merely a proposition. If, according to reason, it becomes possible to fully understand that what has already arisen arises again, then the arising of sprouts, etc., will not be found here. It is said that if one desires that the seed that has already arisen also arises again, then what obstacle is there to the arising of that again, which prevents the arising and makes it possible to understand that the sprout arises? Therefore, sprouts, trunks, nodes, etc., will never arise. Furthermore, the seed will become a continuous and complete arising, because of the very cause that has been spoken of. If it is said that the conditions that help the sprout to arise, such as water and time, transform the seed and cause the sprout to arise, and that the sprout also contradicts being together with the agent, so it destroys the seed and arises, therefore there is no occasion for the fault that has been spoken of, and since the seed and the sprout are not different, it is not not arising from itself? This is also not reasonable, because how can that itself completely destroy that? The seed and the sprout are not different.
