It will be so. The bonds that have become its view have already been abandoned. That Bodhisattva who abides in this Illuminating Ground of the Bodhisattva will abandon the non-decreasing attachment from many hundreds of thousands of eons, many thousands of eons, many hundreds of millions of eons, many hundreds of thousands of billions of eons to many trillions of billions of eons. He will abandon the non-decreasing hatred. He will abandon the non-decreasing delusion. It is said like that. Therefore, his attachment, hatred, and delusion will be completely exhausted. How can he always be able to destroy the attachment to worldly desires? As it is said: O sons of the Victorious Ones, this is the third ground of the Bodhisattva, called the Illuminating Ground, which is a brief teaching. The Bodhisattva who abides in it mostly becomes the king of the gods, the lord of the gods, Indra, and is skilled in accomplishing the means to turn away the attachment of sentient beings to desires, and is the chief, and is skilled in extracting sentient beings from the mire of desires. It is said like that. Therefore, that son of the Victorious One will be able to destroy the attachment to worldly desires. Thus, this Bodhisattva, in the third ground of the Bodhisattva, will undoubtedly obtain the complete purification of the Perfection of Patience, as well as meditation, immeasurables, attainments, superknowledges, and the complete exhaustion of attachment and so on. Having shown this, now, in order to clarify the distinction of the support of the three perfections that are related to the Perfection of Patience, the nature of the accumulation, and the complete accomplishment of the fruit, an explanation will be given: The three dharmas, such as giving, are mostly praised by the Sugatas for householders. The accumulation called merit is also their nature, which is the cause of the Buddha's form body and the Dharma body. Although Bodhisattvas are only the support of giving and so on as mentioned above, nevertheless, due to the difference between householders and renunciates, there is a possibility of both for them, therefore it is said so. For householders, mostly

Furthermore, these three dharmas, such as giving, are easy to practice. For those who have gone forth, it is diligence, meditation, and wisdom, but it is not that others cannot have one of these. The accumulations of causes of the Buddha himself are two, namely the accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom. Among these, the accumulation of merit is precisely those three perfections, while the accumulation of wisdom is meditation and wisdom. Diligence is the common factor of both, and it should be established as such. Among these, the accumulation of merit is the cause of the form body of the complete and perfect Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, possessing the characteristics of a hundred merits, wonderful and inconceivable, and possessing various forms. The cause of the body of the nature of dharma, which is the characteristic of no birth, is the accumulation of wisdom. Now, by speaking of the greatness of self by the greatness of the basis and so on, the occasion of the third bodhisattva ground is completely explained. The son of the Victorious One, abiding in the sun, doing light, first completely eliminates the darkness belonging to himself, and then manifestly desires to destroy the darkness of beings. This abiding in the sun, the son of the Sugata, the illuminating ground, having eliminated the ignorance of his own basis, which has become an obstacle to arising, at the very moment of arising. From such a manifestation, others desire to destroy the darkness that obstructs the arising of the third. That Bodhisattva, even though he becomes very sharp in this ground, does not become angry. This is because he has destroyed the darkness of faults, which destroys qualities, and even though he has become very sharp like the sun, he does not become angry with beings who possess faults, because he is extremely accustomed to patience and because compassion has made his mind stream smooth. From the explanation of Entering the Middle Way, the third generation of mind is completed. Now, by means of the perfections of generosity, discipline, and patience, the perfection of diligence is shown to be superior, and the fourth generation of mind is explained. All qualities follow diligence, and the accumulations of merit and wisdom
