I speak truthfully, speak meaningfully, speak of Dharma, speak reasonably, speak excellently, am patient, and speak words that are timely and appropriate. Even what should be completely abandoned as a joke is completely abandoned, let alone verbal distraction. I am also without greed, not generating greed, not clinging, not envying, and not generating a mind of attachment towards others' wealth, others' desires, others' possessions, and the implements possessed by others. I am also without malice, possessing a mind of loving-kindness, a mind of benefit, a mind of compassion, a mind of happiness, a mind of gentleness, and a mind of benefiting all beings towards all sentient beings, abandoning those thoughts of anger, resentment, baseness, defilement, malice, and those that are preceded by anger, and contemplating those that possess loving-kindness. I have also abandoned wrong views, become one with right view, abide on the right path, and am free from various inauspiciousness and omens, and views with bad morality, because my view is upright, not false, and not deceitful, so I have firm faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Such as these and so on. Among them, the first three paths of virtuous action are accomplished by the body, the middle four are by speech, and the last three are by mind. Thus, all ten paths of virtuous action can be accumulated. If someone asks, are these paths of action not accumulated by the Bodhisattva who first generates the mind [of enlightenment]? Although they also accumulate, however, like these ten paths of virtue, if they are read, they will become very pure. Therefore, this is not the case for the Bodhisattva who first generates the mind [of enlightenment]. Like the autumn moon, they are always pure, the gathering of peace and light makes them beautiful. Peace means subduing the senses, the gathering of light means having a body that shines brightly. Even though the discipline is completely pure, if it is like the law of pure nature, therefore it will not become pure discipline. As it is said in the 'Noble Stack of Jewels Sutra': Light
