Having been well established in the place, it is said: 'Son of lineage, furthermore, the Thus-gone One knows well the eye element, the form element, and the eye consciousness element. He knows well the inner emptiness, the outer emptiness, and the inner-outer emptiness.' Likewise, all eighteen elements should also be combined with the three emptinesses. The earth and other elements are also well known. How does one know them well? Just like the space element, one knows it well. Likewise, the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm are well known to arise truly from complete examination. The conditioned element is the nature of manifest accumulation. The unconditioned element is also the nature of manifest non-accumulation. The all-afflicted element is the nature of sudden affliction. The purified element is the nature of self-luminousness. The cycle of existence is the nature of ignorance of improper attention. The realm of nirvana is the nature of proper attention. Thus, whatever is the element of the world's abiding, whatever is the element of excellent abiding, whatever is the element of following guidance, whatever is the element of obstruction, whatever is the element of thought, whatever is the element of reliance, the Thus-gone One knows them well as they truly are. Having known them, he also teaches the Dharma accordingly, saying, 'This is the fourth activity of the Thus-gone One as the Thus-gone One.' Now, explaining from the perspective of relying on the power of knowing the superior and non-superior faculties: 'Pervasive discrimination and the like, being extremely sharp, are considered superior, while the intermediate state and subtlety are said to be non-superior, and the ability of the eye and the like to accomplish each other, when understood, is said to be the unobstructed power of all-aspects omniscience.' Pervasive discrimination is the excessive imputation of what is not true. Pervasive discrimination is the faculty itself, because it abides as the master in generating desire and the like. The term 'and the like' should be understood as including the causes of virtue such as faith. Therefore, the word 'superior' refers to excellence, while the small and intermediate states are non-superior.

English
is expressed by the syllable "e." The term "eye, etc." refers to the twenty-two faculties, including the eye. Therefore, here, the understanding of the self-nature of the faculties, and the understanding of the self-nature of the ability to mutually accomplish results, without any obstruction of wisdom regarding these, this is established as the power of knowing the superior and non-superior faculties. As it is said: Son of the lineage, furthermore, the Tathagata also knows the order of the faculties of other sentient beings and individuals, just as it is. Son of the lineage, how does the Tathagata know the order of the faculties of other sentient beings and individuals? Son of the lineage, here, the Tathagata also knows that sentient beings with dull faculties are sentient beings with dull faculties, just as they are. Similarly, he also knows those with middling faculties. He also knows those with sharp faculties. He knows with what kind of conceptual faculty extreme attachment arises, extreme anger, and extreme delusion. The term "extreme" means very intense. He knows with what kind of conceptual faculty artificial attachment, anger, and delusion arise. He knows with what kind of conceptual faculty weak attachment, anger, and delusion arise, and he knows with what kind of conceptual faculty subdued attachment, anger, and delusion arise. The Tathagata knows all those faculties that arise from virtuous causes, and those faculties that arise from the cause of definite liberation. Furthermore, the Tathagata knows from knowing the faculty of the eye to the faculty of possessing all knowledge. The Tathagata also knows that the ear faculty, which arises from the cause of the eye faculty, is destroyed. Similarly, the ear faculty and so on should also be understood. For a sentient being who possesses the faculty of generosity, and who also applies it to discipline, the Tathagata knows the superior and non-superior of these faculties.

With wisdom, one speaks of giving. Likewise, one is endowed with the power of morality, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. That which is associated with giving and so forth, thus speaks of morality and so forth. Likewise, whoever is capable of the Hearer Vehicle, also associates with the Solitary Buddha Vehicle and so forth. Son of good family, thus, the Tathagata truly knows those whose faculties are fully matured as those whose faculties are fully matured. Those who are not fully matured, He also truly knows as those who are not fully matured. Those who are not destined to be liberated, He also truly knows as those who are not destined to be liberated. Those who are destined to be liberated, He also truly knows as those who are destined to be liberated. The Tathagata truly knows what is the aspect of the faculties of sentient beings, what is the association, what is the third, from what cause it arises, what is the condition, what is the object, what is the ultimate, and what is the limit. Thus it is said that this is the fifth deed of the Tathagata. That is explained by relying on the power of knowing the path that goes everywhere. Some paths are of the Victorious One, and some are of the Solitary Victorious One. Enlightenment, as well as the enlightenment of Hearers, hungry ghosts, animals, gods, humans, and hells, etc., are the places to go. In that, unattached knowledge is considered an infinite power. In that, the word 'path' refers to the footprint of the path. The path that has the nature of going to all paths is the path that goes everywhere. Some paths are considered to be the Buddha himself. Some are the enlightenment of the Solitary Victorious Ones. Some are the enlightenment of the Hearers. Some are from the gods to the hells. The word 'etc.' signifies the meaning of showing various forms. In that, the path that the Tathagata goes, that path that goes to where, is the one that goes there.
