Because it has already matured, it will repeatedly produce Vipāka (异熟果, different ripening fruit), because it has not lost its own nature, just like when Vipāka has not yet matured. Therefore, if you think that karma is self-existent, then it is indeed with self-nature. Because karma exists in various ways, there is no doubt that the faults mentioned above will occur. Therefore, karma is not self-existent. Because karma is not self-existent, our explanation in this way will not have the fault of excessively thinking that I am permanent and annihilated. Here it is said: Karma is self-existent, because it has its cause. Here, whatever does not exist has no cause, like a garment made of tortoise hair. The afflictions that are the cause of karma do exist, because of ignorance there are formations, and because of grasping there is existence (birth). Therefore, karma exists. It should be said: This is unreasonable. Why? Because this karma is the afflictions themselves, and these afflictions are not real. If the afflictions are not real, how can karma be real? Here, this karma is the nature of afflictions, it is the cause of afflictions, and these afflictions are also not really existent, because those that depend on suffering and happiness and inversion, they are not self-existent, therefore afflictions are not real. Because it will be explained in this way. Therefore, if those afflictions are not real, then how can the karma caused by them be real? Therefore, karma is not self-existent. Here it is said: Karma and afflictions exist, because they have their result. Here, the result of karma and afflictions, namely the so-called body, is observable. Whatever result is observable exists, because the result of non-existent sky flowers, etc., is not seen. It should be said: If their result, namely the so-called body, exists, then karma and afflictions should also exist, but because it has been shown that they do not exist, therefore karma

I say that afflictions are the causes of all actions. If actions and afflictions are empty, then how can one speak of the body? Thus it is said. How actions and afflictions are empty has already been declared. Therefore, when actions and afflictions themselves do not exist, what is there to say about their results, such as bodies, which also do not exist? Because it has already been established that they do not exist, it is thought that there is nothing more to say about this. Here it is said that actions are inherently existent, because there is an enjoyer of their results. Whatever does not exist, there is no enjoyer of its results, like a mango fruit in the sky. The enjoyer of the results of actions exists, namely: the being obscured by ignorance, the one with craving is the enjoyer. It is also not different from the doer, nor is it the same as it. Among them, ignorance, not understanding, darkness, and delusion are different names. Obscured by ignorance means covered. Because of repeated births in the cycle of the five realms, it is birth, beings, sentient beings, and living beings are its different names. Craving, desire, attachment, and passion are different names. Having means bondage. Because one has the bondage of existence, one is a craver, meaning one who has the bondage of craving. As it is said in the sutra: Beings obscured by ignorance, have the bondage of craving. Thus it is said. However, this sinful action is done by oneself, and its ripening result is to be experienced separately by oneself, therefore, he is the enjoyer of the results of actions. It is also not different from the doer, nor is it the same as it, because it cannot be said to be the same as it or different from it. Therefore, if it is said that because there is an enjoyer of the results, actions exist, then, what is to be said about this is that if actions themselves exist, then the doer of actions and the enjoyer of the results should also exist, but in reality they do not exist. Why? Because this action is, born from conditions.
