What is meant by "how to observe"? It is explained by the term "mind." Thus, the ten paths of virtuous actions are also explained there, and these will become the cause for accomplishing the Dharma as previously stated. The result of that Dharma is to enjoy the five desirable qualities, which are characterized by form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. "This" means "this world." "Elsewhere" means the unseen, which is synonymous with "the next world." Thus, for the time being, the questions of some have been answered, and others, having criticized it, speak in order to give other argumentative answers: If such an examination were to occur, many great faults would arise. Therefore, examination is not reasonable here. If, through the similarity of seeds and sprouts, the faults of cessation and permanence in the stream of consciousness are to be avoided, then, for the other party, there will be great faults, namely, contradictions with what is seen and unseen, and it will become numerous due to the multitude of numbers. If asked, how is it? If it is exemplified by the stream of seeds, then only the stream of rice sprouts, etc., will arise from the rice seed; it will not be of a different kind, and only rice fruit will arise from the stream of rice sprouts, etc. Just as the fruit of the neem tree does not arise because of its different kind. Here too, because the reasoning is the same, only the stream of virtuous mind will arise from the virtuous mind; it will not be the stream of non-virtuous and neutral minds because of its different kind. Similarly, only the stream of non-virtuous and neutral minds will arise from the non-virtuous and neutral minds, because it is of a different kind, it will not be other. From the minds that operate in the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, and from the undefiled minds, only the same minds that operate in the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, and the undefiled minds will arise; those of different kinds will not. Only the mind of a human will arise from the mind of a human; it will not be the minds of other gods, hell beings, pretas, and animals, etc. Therefore,

Some say that what is a god will only become a god, and what is a human will only become a human, and so on. Therefore, if there is no difference in the destination, birth place, lineage, intelligence, faculties, power, form, and enjoyment, etc., of gods and humans who commit non-virtuous deeds, and there is no evil destiny or fall, then all of this is not what is desired. Because if one thinks that the continuity of seeds and the Dharma are in accordance, there will be great and many faults. Therefore, that kind of examination is not reasonable here either. Which examination spoken by the Buddhas, solitary realizers, and Shravakas is reasonable here? That should be well explained. What is that examination? It is said: Just as a pledge is, so is inexhaustibility; karma is like a debt; that is the four types within the realm; and that is also of an unspecified nature. Here, when a virtuous action is done, it ceases as soon as it arises, but it is not the case that it ceases and leads to no result. Because when that action arises, in the continuum of the doer, a Dharma that does not possess that action, called "inexhaustibility," arises, like a pledge for a debt. Therefore, one should understand inexhaustibility as being like a pledge, and the action that produces the Dharma of inexhaustibility should be understood as being like a debt. Just as after establishing a pledge for a debt, even if one enjoys the wealth, the wealth of the owner will not be exhausted, but at other times it will be associated with the accumulation of wealth with interest, so too, even if an action is completed, because the Dharma of "inexhaustibility" exists, it will be manifestly associated with the result of the cause of that doer. Furthermore, just as a pledge for a debt, for the giver, retrieving the wealth and becoming a stalemate, whether it exists or not, one can no longer retrieve the wealth, so too, inexhaustibility, after extracting the fully ripened result, whether it exists or not, just as the pledge becomes a stalemate, it cannot cause the doer to be associated with the fully ripened result. Furthermore, as it is said in other sutras, what is the inexhaustibility that we speak of? That is the four types within the realm.
