Is it a birth? Or is it uncertain whether it arises from its own nature like a vase, etc.? If you say that the vase, etc., are also equally to be proven, therefore it is not uncertain, then it is not so, because it was not said that way. If you say that the faults that are spoken of for other inferences, similarly for one's own inference, one would also commit the faults that have been spoken of, therefore it would become the fault of the basis not being established and the reason not being established, etc., wouldn't it? Therefore, one should not refute one with what becomes a fault for both, therefore all these faults would become unreasonable, if you say so, then it should be said that this fault would occur for those who speak of the inference of their own continuum, we do not apply the inference of our own continuum, because inferences only have the result of preventing the commitment of others. For example, for the thought of "the eye sees others," it is also admitted that the eye has the quality of not seeing its own nature, and it is also admitted that it would not arise if there were no quality of seeing others, therefore, for whatever does not see its own nature, then there is also no seeing of others, like a vase. The eye also has the quality of not seeing its own nature, therefore, there is also no seeing of others for this. Therefore, it is contradictory to not seeing one's own nature, and it is contradictory to the inference that blue, etc., seeing others appears in oneself. Thus, it is eliminated by the established inference. Because inferences should only say this much, from where would the faults become the same? If you say that there is some fault that is pointed out on our side, or in any case, through the way of established inference, will the inference be harmed? Yes, that is also through the reason itself that is established in oneself, not through being established in others, because it is seen that way in the world. In the world, sometimes one wins or loses through the words that are made the standard of measurement by both the debater and the refuter, and sometimes it changes only through one's own words, not through the words of others.

It is neither victory nor defeat. Just as it is in the world, so it is in reasoning, because only worldly terms are appropriate to appear in treatises on reasoning. Therefore, some say that it is not an obstacle to inference because of being famous to others, because they want to deny being famous to others. If what is definitely stated has meaning for both, then it is established or refuted; if one thinks that saying what is established or doubtful for either one is not, then one should also acknowledge that relying on the establishment of worldly terms, the way of speaking about inference as mentioned above. Like this, harm by scripture is not only through scripture that is established for both, but what is it? It is also through the way that is established for oneself. Inference for one's own purpose is entirely solidifying what is established for oneself, not what is established for both. Therefore, stating the definition of logic is unnecessary, because the Buddhas benefit those who are to be tamed who do not know that point with the reason of how it appears to themselves. Very extensive explanation is enough. The main text should be explained. Things are also not produced from others, because there are no others. This will be explained in 'The nature of things is not in conditions, etc.' Therefore, because there are no others, they are also not produced from others. Furthermore, if another arises relying on another, then thick darkness would also arise from flames, and everything would arise from everything, because for all non-producers, the other is the same. It should be determined from the Entering the Middle Way that arising from others is negated by these and so on. The teacher Buddhapālita says that things are not produced from others, because everything would arise from everything. Thus he explains. To this, the teacher Bhāvaviveka says, therefore, because that is a statement that would lead to a fault, if what is to be proven and what proves are reversed, then are things self?
