Those teachings that reveal things along with their possessors are called provisional meaning. Those sutras that teach emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-conceptualization, unborn, unarisen, non-things, selflessness, no sentient beings, no life, no person, no owner, up to the gate of liberation, those are called definitive meaning. One should rely on sutras of definitive meaning, and not rely on sutras of provisional meaning, it is said. Similarly, in the Noble Samadhiraja Sutra, it is said: As the emptiness taught by the Sugata, know the distinctions of the definitive meaning sutras. Whatever sentient beings, persons, individuals rely on, know that all those teachings are of provisional meaning. It is said. Therefore, in order to show that the teachings on birth and so on have a false meaning, the teacher composed the work showing dependent arising as substantial. If birth and so on are impossible, and in order to show that all dharmas are false, the teacher composed this. If that is the case, then whatever is false is non-existent, so non-virtuous actions will disappear, and when they disappear, the bad migrations will disappear, and virtuous actions and good migrations will also disappear. Because there are no good migrations and bad migrations, samsara also does not exist. Then wouldn't all compositions become meaningless? If asked, then it should be said: In relation to conventional truth, for the antidote to worldly people who are attached to this as true, we show things as having a false meaning. But the noble ones do not see even a little of what is false or not false. Furthermore, for whom all dharmas are completely known to be of false meaning, what exists for him, and what samsara exists? He does not even fixate on any dharma as existing or not existing. As the Bhagavan said in the Noble Sutra of the Heap of Excellent Meanings: Kashyapa, if the mind is sought everywhere, it cannot be found. What is not found is invisible. What is invisible is neither past nor future.

I am not, nor is what is happening now. Neither is what has passed, nor what is to come. That which is happening now is without inherent existence. That which is without inherent existence has no arising. That which has no arising has no cessation. This is like what is extensively taught. Those who possess perverted views and do not understand that all phenomena are false, and who grasp at things as having inherent existence, become attached because they cling to phenomena as being true. They also perform actions and continue to wander in samsara. By abiding in perverted views, they will not become fortunate enough to attain liberation from suffering. Furthermore, do these false things also become the cause of affliction and purification? Yes, for example, a maiden created by illusion is the cause of affliction for those who do not clearly understand her nature, while an emanation of the Tathagata becomes the cause of purification for those who have accumulated roots of virtue. In the Sutra of the Exalted Thought, it is said: "Son of good family, for example, when someone watches a magician's performance, he sees a woman emanated by the magician, and because his mind is disturbed by desire, he feels ashamed and afraid. He rises from his seat and leaves. After he leaves, if he thinks of that woman as being ugly, impure, impermanent, suffering, empty, and selfless," and so on, it is extensively taught. In the Vinaya, it is also said: "The maiden of illusion created by a magician, although empty of a truly real maiden, is described as the object of desire for the painter's lust." Similarly, these false things are also the cause of affliction for children. Similarly, in the Exalted Heap of Jewels, it is also said: "Then, five hundred monks who had attained meditative absorption did not accept this Dharma taught by the Bhagavan. Because they did not understand or believe, they rose from their seats and left. Then, the Bhagavan emanated two monks as emanations on the path where those monks were leaving. Then, the monks

Those five hundred monks followed the path where those two monks were going, and said: Venerable ones, where are you going? The two emanations said: We are going to a solitary place to abide in the bliss of meditation. Why is that? Because we do not enter into the Dharma taught by the Blessed One, we do not understand, we do not believe, we are afraid and completely terrified, completely extremely terrified, therefore we shall abide in solitary places, abiding in the bliss of meditation. Then, the five hundred monks said: Venerable ones, we also do not enter into the Dharma taught by the Blessed One, we do not understand, we do not believe, we are afraid and completely terrified, completely extremely terrified, therefore we shall also abide in solitary places, abiding in the bliss of meditation. The emanations said: Venerable ones, therefore we should walk correctly, do not argue, striving for non-contention is the Dharma of a renunciate. Venerable ones, what is called complete Nirvana? What is the Dharma that will completely pass into Nirvana? Is it the self from this body? Or a sentient being? Or life? Or a being? Or a person or an individual? Or born of power? Or a son of power? What will completely pass into Nirvana? What ceases and completely passes into Nirvana? They said: By the exhaustion of desire, the exhaustion of hatred, the exhaustion of delusion, one completely passes into Nirvana. The two emanation monks said: Venerable ones, are there desire, hatred, and delusion? When will they be exhausted? They said: They are not inside, nor are they outside, nor can one see that there is neither of the two, nor do they arise from that which is completely unexamined. The two emanations said: Venerable ones, therefore do not conceive of self, do not discriminate. Venerable ones, when one does not conceive, does not discriminate, then one will not be attached, nor will one be separated from attachment. That which is without attachment and without separation from attachment is called peace. Venerable ones
