On the road, after seeing his son born and dying, just as he rejoices at birth and is unhappy at death, know that all dharmas are like this. Just like Gandharva cities, mirages, like illusions, like dreams, know that all dharmas are like this, contemplate the characteristics, and their nature is empty. Thus it is said. Similarly, conditioned and unconditioned dharmas are all peaceful, and those sages have no discrimination. Having obtained the unconditioned dharma in all sentient beings, they are completely separated from all kinds of views. Whoever knows such dharmas will never be attached, violent, or foolish, and his mind will naturally abide in equality. He is a powerful person with the power of meditation. Thus it is said. The commentary on the seventh chapter, called "Conditioned Chapter," in the Clear Words by the teacher Chandrakirti is completed. Here it is said that consciousness and other conditioned dharmas are of the nature of conditioned things, because they have their cause—karma and the agent. The Blessed One also said, "The person, the individual, who is associated with ignorance, also creates the manifestation of merit, and also creates the manifestation of non-merit and immovable karma." etc., thus also showing the agent of karma, as well as karma and the result—consciousness and other conditioned dharmas. Whatever has an agent exists, like a pot. Whatever has no agent has no agent, like a turtle's hair garment. It should be said that if the cause of the arising of consciousness, etc.—karma and the two agents—exist, then consciousness and other conditioned dharmas should also exist. But they do not exist. Like this: When the agent exists, he does not do what becomes karma. When the agent does not exist, he will not become karma, he will not do. Therefore, because of doing, he is the agent. Only slightly doing is the agent, not doing is not. And doing is discriminating whether the agent has become, has not become, or has become and has not become. Because of what is done, karma is the agent's

That which has become desirable is excellent. It also has three aspects: becoming existent, becoming nonexistent, and becoming both existent and nonexistent. Among these, the agent becoming existent, being associated with action, is what has become action. To say that being associated with action, one does not act, is one proposition. Next, the agent becoming nonexistent, being separated from action, is also what has not become action. To say that being separated from action, one does not act, is another proposition. Among these, first, wishing to thoroughly establish, it is said: For what has become existent, there is no action, and it also becomes action without an agent. The statement of an agent is because action has a cause, so from some who have become existent, being associated with and separated from action, the statement of an agent can be obtained. Therefore, for that kind of obtaining the statement of an agent with a cause for action, there is no other action by which that action can be done. When, because there is no action, the agent does not do that action, then there is no dependence on the agent, and it becomes action without an agent. Action without an agent is also not existent, like a prostitute's son making a pot. Thus, for the time being, for what has become existent, there is no action, and it also becomes action without an agent. To avoid this fault, the agent becoming existent does not act. Now, to show that action becoming existent is also not done by the agent, it is said: For what has become existent, there is no action, and without action, it also becomes an agent. What is called action becoming existent is being associated with action, and for that which has already obtained the statement of action with a cause for action, there is indeed no other action by which that action can be done. Thus, for the time being, for what has become existent, there is no action. When there is no other action, then that which has become action is precisely what the agent does not do. When there is no second action for the action and it does not act, then the agent of that action is without action, and if one becomes an agent who is without action and does not do that action, then this is also unreasonable. For those who are not without interval action, they are not the agents of without interval action.
