If something that is in the process of decaying changes, then it is unreasonable to say "decay is decaying," because the past and the present are contradictory. It is also unreasonable for something that has not decayed, because it is separate from decay, and how can something that has not decayed decay? This is mutually contradictory. Something that is decaying is also not like that; this should be connected with the statement "it will not decay." Something that is decaying will also not decay, because there is no such thing as something that is decaying, and it would lead to decay becoming two. Because decay is impossible in all three times, decay does not exist. Then, how can birth and abiding, which occur together with it, exist? Furthermore, since birth has already been refuted, decay itself is also non-existent, as it is said: What that is unborn will decay? Furthermore, if decay were to become a state of existence or non-existence of a thing, then either way would be unreasonable, as it is said: For the time being, for the existence of a thing, decay is unreasonable. Existence, which is contrary to decay, is where decay exists. For a thing that exists, decay is also unreasonable. For a thing that does not exist, decay also does not exist. Therefore, decay is unreasonable in every way. Furthermore, if decay were to occur here, would that state itself change to that state itself, or would another change to another? To show that it is unreasonable in every way, it is said: A state by that state, that itself will not decay. A state by another state, another will also not decay. For the time being, the state of milk itself will not cause the state of milk itself to decay, because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself. Furthermore, the state of yogurt will also not cause the state of milk to decay. If the states of milk and yogurt were to change simultaneously, then those two would become things to be destroyed and things that destroy. In the state of yogurt, the state of milk does not exist. When it does not exist, what will destroy what does not exist? If it destroys, then even the sharpness of a donkey's horn would completely destroy.

It has already changed. Therefore, other states will not cause other states to cease. Here it is said: If that state itself causes that state, or other states cause other states not to cease, even so, the state of milk still has cessation for a while. Therefore, birth also exists. It should be said: Alas, Māra, you are showing yourself to be very foolish, according to the previously stated reason: When all dharmas, birth is unreasonable, it was said. At that time, the cessation of all dharmas is also unreasonable. Hasn't it been shown very clearly? Furthermore, if the so-called cessation exists, does it become something existent or non-existent? To this, temporarily for something existent, cessation is unreasonable. Something existent has not disappeared from its own nature, therefore cessation is unreasonable. For what reason? In one, things and non-things are unreasonable. For a certain thing, the so-called cessation, that non-thing, the existing thing becomes non-existent. Therefore, if it is said that something existent has cessation, then it becomes an admission that things and non-things are both the same basis. If it is one, then both are unreasonable. Now, if it is something existent, then at that time cessation is occupied by non-things, therefore, it is unreasonable to call it a thing. However, if it is a non-thing, then this is also unreasonable for this, because the thing itself that contradicts the non-thing is not separated. Therefore, if things and non-things are one, then that thing is not a thing, nor is it a non-thing, it is permissible to say so. In another way, if it is one, because of mutual contradiction, like light and darkness, it is unreasonable to be both a thing and a non-thing. Therefore, in that way, temporarily for something existent, cessation is unreasonable. Now: For what has become non-existent, cessation is also unreasonable. For what has become not something existent, destruction is also non-existent, because it is not existent, like a flower in the sky.
