Therefore, it is sufficient to argue with you, who say that everything is nonexistent. It should be said: I am not destroying the dependent arising that creates the realm of the Tathagata, but you lack faith and understanding in the extremely profound dependent arising, and you grasp its meaning in a reversed way, thereby slandering us. The Bhagavan Tathagata has said, "This arising from this," which clearly shows that all dharmas are without inherent existence. Because, what is dependent arising? That is the quiescence of inherent nature. Thus, if there is something with an existing inherent nature, which holds its own indestructible inherent nature by itself, then it exists, and therefore does not need to rely on anything else, and there is no birth. Therefore, if one admits that things have inherent existence, how can dependent arising exist? Therefore, only you, by admitting inherent existence, will cause harm to the dependent arising of things in all aspects. Therefore, whoever sees dependent arising sees the Dharma. Whoever sees the Dharma sees the Buddha. From this scriptural statement, it also harms seeing the Dharma and seeing the Buddha. If we show that the cause called seed produces the effect called sprout, and that both are dependently arisen and without inherent existence, then in all aspects, the mother of the Bhagavan Tathagatas, dependent arising, will be clarified. Why is it so? Therefore, it should be clearly understood that the nature of arising and birth is also the nature of quiescence. Here someone says: When birth exists, this arising occurs; if there is no birth, how can it be said that arising depends on birth? This is not reasonable, because the word "arising" arises in this way: depending on the birth of a pot, the pot arises, and is arising also produced by birth? Answer:

This statement is also unreasonable. Why? If things have not arisen, where do some things exist? Then, that thing that is about to arise, if it does not exist, what will arise? If before the arising, a pot, that is, some unarisen thing, exists somewhere, then, if it is something that arises depending on the action of arising, then such a thing does not exist anywhere before the arising. If that pot does not exist, then what will arise? If the pot does not exist before the arising, even so, after arising, it can obtain the name of the pot, therefore, it is not a fault to think that there is no fault in using the name that will appear in the future, this is also unreasonable. If the action of arising begins, then, at that time, the present thing can obtain the designation of the pot, when the thing is not related to the future, and the action does not begin, how can the present exist? If the action is started by relying on something that is not a pot, then it must be explained what that thing that is not a pot is, if it exists, will it become cloth or nothing at all? If it is a cloth that is being produced, then how will it become a pot after it is produced? But if it is nothing at all, then how will the action of its basis begin at that time? Or will it become a pot after it is produced? Therefore, the speculation about what will appear in the future is unreasonable in every way. Therefore, it is established that arising does not produce what is being produced. Furthermore, even though it has been determined that what is being produced is unreasonable, it must still be stated according to your view: If that arising can produce what is being produced, then, is that arising produced by arising itself or by something else? If, according to your view, arising can produce what is being produced, then it must now be explained whether that arising is produced by arising itself or by something else. If it is assumed that the producer of this arising is another arising, then it will fall into the fault of infinite regress, which is what is said: If another arising produces it, it will be infinite.

Translation. This has already been explained. However, if one does not wish for another birth, then if that is the case, even without birth, birth is birth, isn't it? Therefore, all things that are produced by birth will also become unborn and born, because they are things, so they are being born, to show this reason, it is said, "If the unborn is born, everything will be born in the same way." Furthermore, regarding the view that birth produces self and others, we should not criticize it now, because to refute this view, temporarily, existence and non-existence are not suitable for birth, and existence and non-existence themselves are not, as has been explained above. For the meaning of existence or non-existence, conditions are also not suitable, and "When the Dharma exists, non-existence and existence-non-existence cannot be established," etc., birth has been previously refuted. Therefore, since birth has been refuted in that way, the thought that birth produces what is being born, and produces the nature of self and others, is non-existent. Therefore, the birth of birth, and the birth of what is being born, and the birth of the nature of self and others, how can these be established? Furthermore, when examining this birth here, if one thinks that the present thing is related to impermanence and is being destroyed, or that the past and future are separated from the nature of impermanence, are not destroyed, are not perished, then neither case is reasonable, so it is said, "For the thing that is being destroyed, birth is not reasonable. If it is not being destroyed, then it is not suitable to be a thing." For the present thing that is being destroyed, birth is not reasonable, because it exists. For the past and future that are separated from destruction, that do not conform to the characteristics of things, that are not being destroyed, there is no birth, just like a flower in the sky. Thus, after temporarily showing that things have no birth, next, abiding should be examined. Here it is said that the birth of things exists, because it exists, so it exists. For the unborn, there is no abiding.
