It is called a realm. That which makes the inside of the body have cavities is called the space realm. That which makes name and form manifest and accomplish like a quiver, the collection of the five consciousnesses, and the consciousness of mind with outflows, this is called the consciousness realm. Without those causes and conditions, the body will not arise. The earth realm inside is complete, and similarly, the earth, water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness realms are also complete. When all are assembled, from that the body will manifest and be accomplished. Among them, the earth realm does not think, 'I will gather and make the solid substance of the body manifest and accomplish.' The water realm does not think, 'I will do the work of cohesion of the body.' The fire realm does not think, 'I will digest the food, drink, chewing, and tasting of the body.' The wind realm does not think, 'I will do the work of the body's breath moving in and out.' The space realm does not think, 'I will make the inside of the body have cavities.' The consciousness realm does not think, 'I will make the name and form of the body manifest and accomplish.' The body also does not think, 'I am produced by these causes and conditions.' However, if these causes and conditions exist, the body will arise. Among them, the earth realm is not self, not sentient being, not life, not a creator, not born of power, not a particle of power, not a woman, not a man, not a hermaphrodite, not mine, not belonging to me, and not belonging to anyone else. Similarly, the water realm, fire realm, wind realm, space realm, and consciousness realm are not self, not sentient being, not life, not a creator, not born of power, not a particle of power, not a woman, not a man, not a hermaphrodite, not mine, not belonging to me, and not belonging to anyone else. So, what is ignorance? It is precisely with regard to these six realms themselves, to perceive them as singular, to perceive them as a whole, to perceive them as permanent, to perceive them as stable, to perceive them as constant,

To perceive as happiness, to perceive as self, to perceive as sentient being, to perceive as life, to perceive as a producer, to perceive as a nourisher, to perceive as a husband, to perceive as a person, to perceive as born of strength, to perceive as a strong one, to perceive as "I," to perceive as "mine"—such various kinds of not understanding are called ignorance. Thus, because there is ignorance, attachment, hatred, and delusion arise towards objects. Among these, attachment, hatred, and delusion towards objects are called formations due to ignorance. Individually distinguishing things is consciousness. The four immaterial aggregates that arise together with consciousness and are closely grasped are name. The four great elements and what is caused by them are form. The combination of name and form is name and form. The faculties that rely on name and form are the six sense sources. The convergence of three is contact. Experiencing contact is feeling. Attachment to feeling is craving. The increase of craving is grasping. What arises from grasping, the action that produces future existence, is existence. The arising of aggregates from that cause is birth. The ripening of aggregates after birth is aging. The destruction of aggregates after aging is death. Dying and being confused, with intense attachment, the complete inner suffering is sorrow. Speaking words that arise from sorrow is lamentation. Experiencing unpleasantness that is associated with the five aggregates of consciousness is suffering. Mental suffering that is associated with the mind is distress. Furthermore, such near afflictions are disturbances. Therefore, because of the great darkness, it is ignorance. Because of manifest action, they are formations. Because of distinguishing, it is consciousness. Because of mutual dependence, it is name and form. Because of the gateway of birth, it is the six sense sources. Because of contact, it is contact. Because of experiencing, it is feeling. Because of thirst, it is craving. Because of close grasping, it is grasping. Because of producing future existence, it is existence. Because of the arising of aggregates

Is birth. Because the aggregates mature, it is aging. Because of destruction, it is death. Because of making sorrow, it is sorrow. Because of speaking with words, it is lamentation. Because of harming the body, it is suffering. Because of harming the mind, it is discomfort. Because of afflictions, it is disturbance. Or, not understanding that reality, knowing it wrongly, that is not knowing, which is ignorance. Thus, if there is ignorance, then three kinds of actions manifestly arise and are accomplished, namely, approaching merit, approaching non-merit, and approaching immovability. Among these, from actions that approach merit, there arises consciousness that approaches merit; from actions that approach non-merit, there arises consciousness that approaches non-merit; from actions that approach immovability, there arises consciousness that approaches immovability; this is called consciousness. Because of consciousness, there is name and form, wherein the four non-form aggregates such as feeling, because they follow this and that existence, are called name. The form aggregate, together with, is called name and form, therefore it is called name and form. As name and form increase, those who perform actions through the doors of the six sense bases arise, this is called the six sense bases because of name and form. From those six sense bases arise the six collections of contact, this is called contact because of the six sense bases. As contact arises, so does feeling arise, this is called feeling because of contact. Those distinctions of feeling, experiencing and manifest joy, and especially attachment, especially attaching and entering, this is called craving because of feeling. Experiencing and manifest joy, and especially attachment, especially attaching and abiding, may I not be separated from the nature of suffering and the nature of being apart from happiness, thus not abandoning, returning and desiring, this is called grasping because of craving, namely, accumulating and accomplishing whatever is accompanied by craving, in order to approach
