Since dependent arising is also emptiness, there is no such thing as a non-empty dharma. Because this is so, according to our view, all dharmas are empty, and therefore there will be no fault as stated by others. According to you who say that things have intrinsic nature, if all this is not empty, then there is no arising and no destruction. If there is no arising and no destruction, then certainly, the four noble truths will not exist for you. Why? Because if it is not dependent arising, how can there be suffering? The impermanence and suffering that are spoken of do not exist in intrinsic nature. Whatever has intrinsic nature is not dependently arisen, and whatever is not dependently arisen is not impermanent, just as a sky flower is not impermanent. Suffering is also impermanent, because the Blessed One said that whatever is impermanent is suffering. Similarly, in the *Hundred Treatises* it is said: Impermanence necessarily brings harm. Whatever has harm is not happiness. Therefore, whatever is impermanent, all of that becomes suffering. Thus it is said. Impermanence is also in intrinsic nature; if you accept that it has intrinsic nature, then it does not exist in things. Thus, for a moment, if things truly have intrinsic nature, then suffering is unreasonable. Not only is suffering itself unreasonable, but also to show that accepting intrinsic nature, the origin is also unreasonable, (the text says) if intrinsic nature exists, what will become the origin? Therefore, for those who harm emptiness, the origin does not exist. Thus it is said. Here, because suffering arises from this, the cause of suffering is called the origin. Therefore, suffering harms emptiness, and according to the view of those who accept that suffering has intrinsic nature, that is also because birth is meaningless, so its cause, discrimination, is also meaningless. Thus, for those who harm emptiness, the origin is also unreasonable. For those who accept that suffering exists by its own nature, suffering

To show that it is also impossible to prevent suffering. Suffering exists by its own nature, and cessation does not exist. Because self-nature is all-pervasive, it harms cessation. It is said, if suffering exists by its own nature, then since there is no change in self-nature, how can there be cessation? In that way, because self-nature is all-pervasive, completely grasping self-nature and making it return also harms the cessation of suffering. Now, to show how the noble path is also unreasonable for those who say that things have self-nature. If the path has self-nature, then practice is not reasonable. If that path is to be practiced, then your self-nature does not exist. If all things become having self-nature, then since the path is also having self-nature, it exists as unpracticed, so what is the use of practicing it? In that way, if there is self-nature, practicing the path is unreasonable. If you admit that the path can be practiced, then your noble path will not become having self-nature, because it can be acted upon, that is what is thought. Furthermore, if someone wants to practice the path in order to attain the cessation of suffering, and in order to abandon arising, then according to those who say that things have self-nature, according to the way described earlier, when suffering and arising, and cessation do not exist, what do you want to attain, the cessation of suffering of the path? The cessation of suffering that can be attained by practicing the path does not exist. Therefore, in that way, the noble path is also unreasonable. In that way, for those who say that things have self-nature, the four noble truths will all become non-existent. Now, to show how knowing suffering etc. for others is also impossible. If it is not self-nature itself that fully understands, then how can it become fully understood? Is self-nature not existent? It is said, if suffering becomes a self-nature that was not fully understood before, and then it is fully understood later, then this is unreasonable. Why? Because this
