Because it is not, afflictions cannot be abandoned. Since they cannot be abandoned, how could there be a search for a method to abandon afflictions? Therefore, as it is said: Ignorance and so on do exist, because there is a search for a method to abandon them. What is said in this way is unreasonable. As it is said, in the Noble King of Samadhi Sutra also: Form also shows enlightenment, enlightenment also shows form, with dissimilar sounds, the supreme teacher of Dharma is well shown. Sound is the supreme of form, its essence is profound. Form and enlightenment are the same, it is impossible to find a difference. Nirvana is also profound, just as sound well shows it, Nirvana is also impossible to find, its sound is also impossible to find. Sound and Nirvana, both are impossible to find. Similarly, for all empty dharmas, Nirvana is well shown. Nirvana and cessation, Nirvana is impossible to find, this is where dharmas do not enter, how it is later is how it was before. All dharmas by their nature, are equal and the same as Nirvana, those who strive in the Buddha's teachings, those arising ones will understand. Thus it is said. Similarly, wisdom knows that the aggregates are empty, having known this, it does not associate with afflictions, speaking of what is to be spoken of only in terms of speech, like Nirvana, this world should be examined. Thus it is said. The explanation of the twenty-third chapter, the Examination of Inverted Views, from the Clear Words composed by the venerable teacher Chandrakirti is completed. Here, if all these are empty, there is no arising and no destruction, then the four noble truths, would become a fault of not existing for you. If because it is unreasonable by reason, you establish that all these aspects of external and internal things are emptiness, then wouldn't you have great and many faults? How so? If all these are emptiness, then what is empty is non-existent, and what is non-existent is not existent, so like the son of a barren woman, there is no birth and no cessation, therefore nothing arises and nothing is destroyed.

Therefore, you who claim that the Four Noble Truths are empty will be deemed non-existent. Why? Like this: Here, the five aggregates of grasping, which are produced by previous causes and arise interdependently, are incompatible with the suffering of suffering, the suffering of change, and the suffering of conditioning. Because they possess the nature of harm, they are called suffering. This suffering is only understood as suffering by the noble ones who have abandoned perversion, but not by those who are associated with perversion. Just as they see it, because they truly establish the nature of things, it is not understood by non-noble ones. Just as those whose senses have been perverted by diseases such as plagues perceive even the sweetness of sugarcane as bitter, for those people, bitterness is true in relation to their consciousness, but sweetness is not. Similarly, here, although the five aggregates of grasping are of the nature of suffering, for those who see them as the nature of suffering, they are established as suffering. It is not so for those who are associated with perversion and perceive them in other ways. Therefore, it is only true for the noble ones that it is the nature of suffering, and therefore it is called the Noble Truth of Suffering. If non-noble ones also completely determine that feeling is suffering, then why is it said that suffering is only true for the noble ones? Feeling alone is not the Truth of Suffering, but what is it? It is all five aggregates of grasping. Therefore, it is only true for the noble ones, and therefore it is established as the Noble Truth. As it is said: A single hair on the palm of the hand, people do not perceive it, but if it enters the eye, it causes discomfort and harm. A child is like the palm of the hand, and does not perceive the hair of the suffering of conditioning. The noble one is like the eye, and therefore is very disgusted by it.

Shad do. Therefore, suffering is true only for the noble ones, so suffering is designated as the noble truth of suffering. When can it be considered the noble truth of suffering? When conditioned things have arising and ceasing. When, due to emptiness, there is not even a little arising and not even a little ceasing, then there is no suffering. If there is no suffering, how can there be the truth of the origin? Thus, from what cause does suffering arise, and the cause that is characterized by craving, karma, and afflictions is called the origin. When the truth of suffering, which has become the result, does not exist, then, since it is separated from the result, it is not reasonable as the cause itself, so there is no origin either. That which is free from suffering and does not give rise to aversion is called cessation. When suffering itself does not exist, then by what will it be ceased? Therefore, the cessation of suffering also does not exist. Therefore, if there is no suffering, there is no truth of cessation either. If there is no cessation of suffering, then how can there be the path that leads to the cessation of suffering, the noble eightfold path? Therefore, there is no truth of the path either. Therefore, if you speak of the emptiness of things in this way, it will follow that you do not have the four noble truths. What fault will there be from that? It should be said: Because there are no four noble truths, complete knowledge, abandonment, cultivation, and realization are not reasonable. If the four noble truths are not established, then it is not reasonable to completely know the truth of suffering with aspects such as impermanence, to abandon the truth of the origin of suffering, to cultivate the path that leads to the cessation of suffering, and to realize the cessation of suffering. If, because there are no noble truths such as suffering, there is no complete knowledge, etc., what fault is there? It should be said: Because those do not exist, the four fruits also do not exist. If there are no fruits, there are no fruit positions. The stream-enterers, etc., also do not exist. If there are eight types of individuals, those do not exist.
