By doing so, it would follow that everything would be produced. If asked, what does this "seeing" mean? It can be said that "seeing" means "object of perception," which is recognized in the world. If it is said that because there are no senses, it is impossible for seeds, etc., to have "seeing," isn't it? Whether it is possible or impossible, we should not argue or investigate. Then who should it be said to? It should be said to those who assert production. If those who assert production say that they produce because they see, then it should be said to them that the fact that seeds, etc., have "seeing" is not seen in the world. Therefore, this speculation is unreasonable. If it is speculated that even if they do not see, they can produce, then even so, anything that is not seen will become a producer, but this is not the case. Therefore, even if they do not see, they are not producers. We prevent others from investigating by establishing undesirable results. For those who assert that the self, etc., is the cause, who believe that beings are agents with wisdom as their guide, and for those naked ascetics who believe that seeds, etc., have a single sense, the error of this inference cannot be avoided, so there is no fault. Furthermore, if there is a contact of the nature of mutual aggregation between cause and effect, then at that time the two will become the object to be produced and the producer. Because without mutual contact, light and darkness, or samsara and nirvana, are not seen as the object to be produced and the producer. Therefore, if one believes that cause and effect are the object to be produced and the producer, then one must admit that there is another contact. However, upon analysis, this contact does not exist in the three times of past, present, and future. Therefore, the cause does not produce the effect. To show that there is no contact, it is said: The past fruit and the past cause, The unborn and the born cause, The event of meeting simultaneously, Never exists. Thus it is said. In short, The past fruit and the past cause, meeting simultaneously, never, that is, absolutely do not exist.

Because both times are past, they do not exist. It is absolutely impossible for a past fruit to meet with an unborn cause, because both destruction and non-birth do not exist, and because the times are different. It is also impossible for a past fruit to meet with a born present cause, because the times are different, and because the destroyed fruit does not exist, like the son of a barren woman and Devadatta, so it is thought. Just as it is impossible for this fruit to meet with past, future, and present causes, similarly, in order to show that it is impossible for the present fruit to meet with the causes of the three times, it is said: A born fruit, an unborn cause, and the past and the born, it is impossible to meet. It is impossible for a born fruit to meet with an unborn past cause, because the times are different. It is also impossible for a present fruit to meet with a present cause, because cause and fruit cannot exist simultaneously, and because meeting is meaningless for things that already exist. What need is there for meeting for existences that do not depend on each other? Therefore, there is no meeting. Now, in order to show that it is also impossible for a future fruit to meet with past, future, and present causes, it is said: An unborn fruit, a born cause, and the unborn and the past, it is impossible to meet. An unborn fruit does not exist, and it is impossible for it to meet with causes of different times, and with present and past causes, because the times are different. It is also impossible to meet with a future cause, because both do not exist. When, in all cases, the meeting of cause and fruit does not exist, if there is no meeting, how can a cause produce a fruit? Because there is no meeting, a cause cannot produce a fruit, like the son of a barren woman, so it is thought. If meeting exists, a cause can produce a fruit, so it is thought.

English

Furthermore, this is also unreasonable. Because in the past, present, and future, no point of meeting can be found. If one thinks that the cause and effect meet in some way, even if the meeting exists, how does the cause produce the effect? Because it is meaningless for the effect to arise simultaneously, and things that are not simultaneous cannot meet. This is the meaning. Furthermore, if the cause is empty, how does it produce the effect? If the cause is non-empty, how does it produce the effect? Does the cause that is desired to produce the effect produce the effect with emptiness or non-emptiness? To this, a cause that is empty and separate cannot produce an effect, just like a non-cause, because it is empty. A non-empty cause also cannot produce an effect, because it already exists, like Devadatta who has a son. Therefore, for the time being, neither an empty nor a non-empty cause can produce an effect. Does the effect that arises produce non-emptiness or emptiness? To this, a non-empty effect will not arise, and non-emptiness will not cease. Non-emptiness will not cease, and it will also become unborn. A non-empty effect is not produced by dependence and combination, but exists naturally. Such an effect will not arise, and because nature does not change, it will not cease. Therefore, if one thinks that it is not empty, it will become unborn and unceasing, but this is not what is desired. Therefore, the effect is not non-empty, because birth and cessation have been promised. Now, the empty effect also does not exist, in order to explain that it will become without birth and cessation, it is said: How does emptiness arise? How does emptiness cease? Emptiness will not cease, and it will also become unborn. It is said in this way, to this, emptiness refers to something that does not exist by nature. How can something that does not exist by nature arise or cease? Like space and other natures
