Merely observing, one can experience joy and act like an illusion, but if one clings to this, one will revolve in the three realms and be associated with the continuation of all afflictions. If one does not cling to this and truly understands its selflessness, then the seed of existence will cease, and one will attain the great bliss of non-abiding nirvana in a way that is without attainment. This is the way the great vehicle Madhyamaka practitioners, such as the teacher Nagarjuna, Aryadeva, Bhavaviveka, Buddhapalita, and others, have explained the way of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, in this way, by seeing the equality of all dharmas as the same as nirvana, unborn, one can transform the object of the mind. When the object of the mind is transformed, one can transform what is said. When it is transformed, one can pacify the proliferation of characteristics that cling to conventional truth, and this is the conclusion of the chapter on the cessation of proliferation by emptiness. Previously it was said: 'Liberation comes from the exhaustion of karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions come from conceptual thought. These come from proliferation, and proliferation ceases by emptiness.' Thus, the uncommon liberation is explained. For this, from worldly proliferation arises conceptual thought, from conceptual thought arise karma and afflictions, and liberation comes from the exhaustion of karma and afflictions. The attainment of liberation through the exhaustion of karma and afflictions was also said earlier: 'When both inner and outer are purified, when self and what belongs to self are exhausted, grasping will cease, and when that is exhausted, birth will cease.' This is how it is explained. This is the common liberation of hearers and solitary realizers, distinguished by the realization of the selflessness of persons, which is the method for abandoning the obscurations of afflictions. From that gateway, the paths and fruits of hearers and solitary realizers will all be perfected, and one will attain the state of no more learning, distinguished by the ultimate result of asceticism, such as the sangha, conduct, and the rhinoceros-like state. Proliferation ceases by emptiness, what is said is how through emptiness

If (the mind) ceases, what is the reason? It is because the previously mentioned (language) expression ceases, (and the language expression ceases) because the scope of activity of the mind ceases. The unborn and the unceasing are the same as the Dharma-nature Nirvana. As said in the sequence, seeing that the equality of all dharmas is the same as Nirvana, without birth, then the scope of activity of the mind will cease. When the scope of activity of the mind ceases, then (language) expression will cease, and when (language) expression ceases, then the proliferation of characteristics of manifest clinging to the conventional truth will be pacified. This is the Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, with the uncommon liberation, distinguishing by realizing the selflessness of phenomena, is the method of eliminating the obscurations of knowledge. From that gate, the Mahayana path and all its fruits are completely perfected, and the state of the unsurpassed perfect Buddha, the Bhagavan, is attained. Some of our own and other schools say that the Madhyamikas are no different from nihilists because they slander all things. To those, some answer that even if they are the same in denying things, they are like not distinguishing ordinary people and Arhats, and abandoning them after distinguishing them, or like blind people and sighted people determining that the direction is inconvenient, even if they determine that they are the same, there are differences, and there are also differences between nihilists and Madhyamikas. Because the other party did not say that there is no difference in understanding the reality of things, saying that there is no difference is not an answer. Here, some of our own and other schools say, what is the difference between the view that this world does not exist, the other world does not exist, sentient beings are real, there are no born, etc., and the view that all things are neither born nor cease? As an answer to this question, the teacher Buddhapalita said that there is a great difference between the two, you think that the two are the same because you do not understand the meaning of emptiness. For this, whatever is abandoned without distinction, and whatever is abandoned after distinction, these two are the same in abandonment, but without distinction
