In response to the question raised from them, the commentator here says: If merely existing can bring benefit, then when the inner action becomes stronger, as the cause of the arising of an image, even if it is determined that "I am other, and nature is also other," even so, it is only that there is a difference in the inner action, but there is no difference in the person, therefore there is no liberation. Therefore, even so, it is only in the mind of the inner agent belonging to nature that there is a difference in the knowledge that "I am other, and nature is also other." Since there is no difference in the person, there is also no liberation. If the Samkhyas here say this: Just as an image arises from a form, from our tenets, the wisdom belonging to nature will give rise to certainty, relying on the difference between the previous state of bondage and the subsequent state of liberation, and also believe that there is a difference in the person, therefore the person has liberation. In response to the above question raised from them, the commentator here says: Even if there is a difference, it will be the same as the previous fault. If there is a difference in the person, it is because of change, because there is no permanence, so it will be the same as the previous fault, not having knowledge, so it is also not right. Furthermore, even if there is a reversal of the knowledge that "I am other, and nature is also other," but because the person does not produce a reversal of knowledge. Furthermore, as the Samkhyas say, for the wisdom belonging to nature, when wisdom arises with the knowledge that "I am other, and the nature of the three *guṇas* (Tibetan: ཡོན་ཏན།, Devanagari: गुण, Romanized Sanskrit: *guṇa*, literal meaning: merit) of mind, dust, and darkness is also other," for that wisdom, a mind of liberation arises that is the opposite of the mind of the state of bondage, even if there is a reversal of knowledge, but because the person is constant and unchanging, and no difference between before and after arises, therefore no reversal of knowledge arises, therefore for that person, no difference arises between the mind of the state of liberation that is the opposite of the mind of the previous state of bondage, even so, there is no liberation for the person. You attain liberation through the principle of the arising of images

Furthermore, the so-called "that also" refers to the Samkhyas who believe that, just as a convex image arises dependent on the shape of a mirror, when the wisdom belonging to nature thinks that the awakened one is also different from (nature), and that the nature of courage, dust, and darkness is also different from (nature), then that wisdom arises with a unique realization, and therefore wisdom itself is liberation. And, just as relying on the shape of a mirror, a unique realization arises in the person in the manner of a convex image, thereby believing that the person also has liberation, this view is unreasonable, and (below) this will be refuted. How is it unreasonable? Therefore, since there is no change in the person, what was not previously prevented cannot later give rise to unerring wisdom, because it was not prevented. For example, just like the later state, there is no liberation, so it is said. This refers to the fact that, since the person is permanent and unchanging, and the self and characteristics are different, it was not previously prevented from the mind of the bound state, nor did the mind of the liberated state arise. Therefore, in this way, since there is no change in the person, what was not previously prevented cannot later give rise to the unique unerring wisdom, because it was not previously prevented, for example, just like the later state of liberation, after having been liberated, it is also impossible for the unique unerring wisdom to arise. Therefore, just as a convex image arises dependent on the shape of a mirror, when the wisdom belonging to nature thinks that the awakened one is also different from (nature), and that the nature of courage, dust, and darkness is also different from (nature), then that wisdom arises with a unique realization, and therefore wisdom itself is liberation. And, just as relying on the shape of a mirror, a unique realization arises in the person in the manner of a convex image, thereby believing that the person also has liberation, this view is unreasonable, therefore it is explained that the person has no liberation. These also correspond in order to the subject, the to-be-established dharma, the establishing dharma, the example, and the conclusion. For example, relative to the state of not having been liberated previously, the de-
