Just as a son will not become a daughter, will human beings not be reborn as gods or other beings? Or because of the difference in species, for example, the continuous growth of grass roots from cow hair and sheep wool, or the growth of bamboo from horns, it is uncertain whether the human lineage will be transformed into the lineage of gods and so on. Therefore, the argument of the Vaibhashikas is not established. Here it is said that what comes from the scriptures is also a sign, so "non-deterioration" is also what the Blessed One said. Because its sign, that is, neither permanence nor annihilation, is also established. Just like karma, in the ultimate sense, "non-deterioration" is also not established, so it is unreasonable to say that the meaning of the argument is not established. Here, those who say that there is "non-deterioration" are using the argument of the scriptures to prove the words that there is "non-deterioration." They say that the three aspects of a sign, the three aspects, refer to the rule that exists in the inferable object, exists in the similar aspect, and does not exist in the dissimilar aspect. These three aspects have three signs: invisibility, self-nature, and result. Among them, from invisibility, it can be inferred that things do not exist; from self-nature, it can be inferred that things are impermanent; from the result, it can be inferred that the cause. There are also three kinds of valid cognition: direct perception, inference, and the valid cognition of reliable scriptures. There are also three kinds of objects to be measured: the objects of individual consciousness, the meaning of what is said, and the meaning of what is explained. Among them, the object of individual consciousness is the self-characteristic, which is the realm of direct perception, so there is no need to examine it with signs. The meaning of what is said is the common characteristic, which is hidden, and is the realm of inference, so it should be examined with the three aspects of a sign. The meaning of what is explained is the self-characteristic and the common characteristic, which are extremely hidden, and is the realm of reliable scriptures. Therefore, it should also be examined with the three aspects of a sign. What comes from the scriptures is also a sign, so the Blessed One also said "non-deterioration." The sign of its existence is the connection between karma and result, which is neither permanent nor annihilation.

Furthermore, you Madhyamikas previously stated that what the second proponent said, if that is a valid argument, there is also a connection between action and result, and it will not become the fault of permanence or annihilation, because there is no waste. If you say that, then from our side, because action is unborn, therefore, in the ultimate truth, non-wastage is also not established. Like this, if it arises, then its non-wastage will also exist, but it has not arisen, because it does not exist, therefore it also does not exist, so the meaning of the reason is not established. Saying that is not reasonable. In response to that saying, the commentator himself explains here: The Blessed One said: Because that is unborn, therefore it will not be wasted. Therefore, we agree with what was said that for what has arisen, there will be no waste. But that is not established on the other's side, so for oneself, the meaning is not established. We also accept that what comes from scripture is a sign. The Blessed One said: Because that action is unborn, therefore it will not be wasted, we agree with that. But that is not established on your opponent's side. On your side, if it is not born, then it will not be non-wasteful, so the meaning of non-wastefulness is not established. We agree that for what is unborn, it will not be wasted, but that is not established in yourself. Therefore, what you have to prove and the meaning of the reason are not established in yourself, so it is not right. Those who assert inherent existence must also be sure that action has no inherent existence. You who assert inherent existence, if you also rely on scripture and believe that action is not wasted, then, the Blessed One said, because action is unborn and has no inherent existence, therefore it will not be wasted. Therefore, you must also be sure that action has no inherent existence. If you make another commitment, etc., it shows many faults that are not right if you assert that action has inherent existence. Therefore, if action has inherent existence, it will become permanent.
