Therefore, words like "sound is permanent because it is not corporeal, like space" do not make the meaning to be proven understood, but rather show a negative inference. Those should also be connected in order with the subject, the dharma to be proven, the proving dharma, and the example. For example, some who are not skilled in reasoning say, "Sound is permanent because it is not corporeal, like space." Their example, space, although it possesses the permanence to be proven and the non-corporeality of the proving dharma, it does not make the meaning of sound being proven as permanent understood, just as possessing the dharma to be proven and the proving dharma does not make the meaning to be proven understood. For the examples of others skilled in reasoning, etc., also, because they possess the dharma to be proven and the proving dharma, they do not make the meaning to be proven understood. If it is said that there is no fault because it is promised that the statement with complete limbs is the proof itself, then this is the opponent saying, "What you Madhyamikas say is that the limbs of proof such as the promise, reason, example, application, and conclusion are incomplete and do not prove the meaning to be proven, but are inferences. We, however, promise that the statement of inference with all the limbs of proof complete is the proof itself of the meaning to be proven, so there is no fault of those not being established." This is what they say. In order to answer what they say, here the commentator himself says, "It should be said, what is the statement with complete limbs the proof of?" Thus, ask the opponent. If it is said to be what is to be proven, then this is saying that if asked in this way, the opponent would say this. The commentator, in order to show that it is unreasonable, says, "That is not an answer, because it is difficult to show that itself." This is saying that the very thing to be proven, when previously examining the definition of the promise as unreasonable, what is it that is to be proven? Is it established or not established? Etc., it has already been shown to be unreasonable. Now it is difficult to show the existence of that itself, so for the opponent

Such statements are not answers. In reality, statements with complete limbs do not establish the meaning to be established, because they have complete limbs. For example, like being harmed by later arguments, this means that for statements without complete limbs such as assertions, other than the special cases that are not harmed by later arguments, whether or not they are harmed by later arguments is not distinguished, and ordinary cases do not establish the meaning to be established, but show subsequent inferences. These are also the subject, the dharma to be established, the dharma that establishes, and the example, arranged in order. For example, a statement with complete limbs that is harmed by later arguments, because it has complete limbs, does not establish the meaning to be established. Similarly, an ordinary statement that does not have special cases, because it has complete limbs, does not establish the meaning to be established. If it is not harmed by later arguments, then a statement with complete limbs is established, if it is said, it is the opponent who says that a statement with complete limbs that establishes assertions, etc., if it is not harmed by later arguments, then the meaning to be established is established, that is the statement. In response, the commentator says, that is not possible, because there is no following like this, saying that a statement with complete limbs is not harmed by later arguments, and the meaning to be established is established, because there is no example of the same kind for that statement, Therefore, such inferences cannot truly establish self-existence. Here, the opponent says that an ordinary statement without special cases is not the dharma that establishes, but a statement with special cases, if it is not harmed by later arguments, then the meaning to be established is established. To answer the question raised by the previous opponent, the commentator himself, for the special statement with complete limbs that has become unestablished, is also because it has complete limbs, for example, like being harmed by later arguments.
