The ground becomes a Buddha-field, as it is said, "The enlightenment realized by the Tathagatas is well distinguished by the absence of direct realization." Thus it is said, thereby, the omniscient wisdom is also not solely the object of that, and the suchness of all dharmas is also not an object to be focused on, the one who distinguishes well by understanding equality is the Buddha Bhagavan, thus it is shown. In order to refute the correct wisdom and suchness contemplated by the Yogacharas, it is said: The wisdom that focuses on suchness should not be the object of ultimate reality, because it is conditioned. For example, like eye consciousness. Thus it is said, thereby showing that the correct wisdom with an object contemplated by the Yogacharas is not the establishing inference of ultimate wisdom, these are the subject, the property to be established, the reason, and the example, to be applied in order. For example, eye consciousness, because it is conditioned, should not be the object of ultimate reality, likewise, the wisdom that focuses on suchness contemplated by the Yogacharas, because it is conditioned, should not be the object of ultimate reality. Similarly, the object to be focused on, suchness, is also a deceptive dharma and is not suchness, because it is an object to be focused on, for example, like form. Thus it is said, the object to be focused on of suchness contemplated by the Yogacharas is a deceptive dharma and is not the establishing inference of suchness, these are also the subject, the property to be established, the reason, and the example, to be applied in order. For example, form, because it is an object to be focused on, is a deceptive dharma and is not suchness, likewise, the object to be focused on of correct wisdom, suchness, is also a deceptive dharma and is not suchness because it is an object to be focused on. If, in the Sutra Pitaka, because ultimate reality cannot be contemplated and is not the object of investigation, it cannot be shown by inference.

If that is the case, then this statement is a refutation directed at the opponent Madhyamikas who previously used two inferences to negate true wisdom and suchness. As a response to that refutation, the commentator says that merely through the power of inference that accords with the scriptures, all conceptualizations can be stopped, thereby accomplishing non-conceptual wisdom. Therefore, although the ultimate truth is not an object of inference, inference is not unimportant, because there is no other method to distinguish between what is correct and incorrect, so your statement is unreasonable. Both of you equally rely on the scriptures, but you do not have inference that accords with the scriptures, therefore you cannot truly reveal the ultimate truth. But I possess inference that accords with the scriptures, and through its power, I can stop all conceptualizations, thereby accomplishing non-conceptual ultimate wisdom. Since ultimate wisdom has been accomplished, then, although the ultimate truth is not an object of inference for logicians, inference is not unimportant, because from the perspective of conventional truth, the proof of distinguishing between what is correct and incorrect can only be achieved through the clarity of inference, and there is no other way besides that, therefore the ultimate truth must also be revealed through inference, so your excuse is unreasonable. Regarding a more detailed analysis, it will be conducted when discussing the Yogacara school in the context of the Madhyamaka-hrdaya. This statement indicates the view of the Mahayana Madhyamikas and provides a detailed analysis of the views of the Vijnanavada school, considering their views to be unreasonable. Just as Acharya Shantarakshita, in the Madhyamakavatara-karika-vrtti, the Tarka-jvala commentary on the Madhyamaka-hrdaya, will elaborate in detail when discussing the "only-consciousness" of the Yogacara school. It is sufficient to mention this in passing, this is merely to show one aspect so that those who are diligent can, together with their own schools, understand the aspects of what is reasonable and unreasonable. This statement is a summary of the incidental explanation. Therefore, the meaning of debating here is to transcend suffering by pointing out the fault of the opponent's debate in first stating the proof.
