Asked the goddess dwelling in the house known as 'without a place': Goddess, how long will it take for you to realize enlightenment and become a Buddha? The goddess said: When the venerable one possesses the Dharma of individual beings, then I will realize enlightenment and become a Buddha. The venerable one said: Goddess, what is it that I will possess the Dharma of individual beings, that is without a place. The goddess said: Venerable Shariputra, likewise, my realization of enlightenment and becoming a Buddha is also without a place. Why is that? Because enlightenment is non-abiding, therefore, someone realizing enlightenment is without a place. The venerable one said: Goddess, then aren't the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, realizing enlightenment, becoming enlightened, and going to become enlightened? The goddess said: Those called Buddhas of the past, future, and present are merely letters, numbers, and conventional terms of expression, but in reality, no one actually realizes enlightenment. Such were the words spoken, and in the chapter taught by the noble Satyavadin, the venerable Mahakashyapa said to Satyavadin: Son of good family, since you have not wronged many Tathagatas, why do you not complete the accumulations and realize enlightenment? Satyavadin said: Venerable Mahakashyapa, if I were to fixate on enlightenment or the realization of enlightenment, then I would realize unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. The venerable Mahakashyapa said: Satyavadin, haven't Bodhisattvas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges made aspirations and realized enlightenment? Satyavadin said: Venerable Mahakashyapa, beings with manifest pride count it that way, but in reality, enlightenment is also without an object of focus, and the Bodhisattva is also without an object of focus. Such were the words spoken, these scriptures are collected.

And also contradictory. Because the unborn to be realized, just as wisdom is also unborn, therefore, through the statement "it is established without entering," it shows that in the ultimate truth, both the knowable and wisdom are unborn, so the true wisdom examined by the Yogacharas is established without entering Suchness. The Blessed One said that with the wisdom that is not different from the knowable, all is understood, and this is also established. Therefore, it is best to rely on the way of speaking of the Madhyamikas, which is the merit, source, and conclusion of being established without entering. If someone thinks like this, for example, if one recognizes the nature of the rope by mistaking a coiled rope for a snake, just as the fear of the snake gradually subsides, because seeing Suchness can pacify afflictions, so one should only focus on the Dharmadhatu. This is the opponent's words of focusing on Suchness with true wisdom and arguing through reasoning. To show that this is unreasonable, just as when a coiled rope is mistaken for a snake, fear arises because of wrong recognition; if this thought does not arise, there is no fear because of correct recognition; if an uncoordinated defect arises, the mind will change; if it does not arise, there will be no suffering, so one should not expect the wisdom of focusing on Suchness to arise. Thus it is said, which shows the way of cultivating the non-abiding path in a non-objective way. To show its rationality, things are not completely established in any way, which is the Suchness of things. Because it will not approach things as objects in any way, it should not be regarded as an object of focus. Thus it is said, external and internal things, in the ultimate truth, birth, cessation, permanence, annihilation, going, coming, one meaning, different meanings, etc., are not completely established in any way, which is Suchness. And it will not approach things as objects in any way, such as true wisdom, and it is considered as a way of entering Suchness, etc., therefore.

There should be no clinging to objects. Thus, in the Sutra Requested by Holy Sagaramati, the Blessed One instructed all Bodhisattvas to uphold the sacred Dharma, and all other Bodhisattvas requested, saying: We shall uphold the sacred Dharma. At that time, the youth Manjushri asked: Blessed One, these Bodhisattvas who say, 'We shall uphold the sacred Dharma,' are speaking falsely. Why is that? Because when the Blessed One attained perfect enlightenment, he did not teach any Dharma that should be upheld. Blessed One, therefore, I do not hold on by upholding the sacred Dharma. The Blessed One said: Manjushri, well done, well done! Having remained in the essence of Bodhi, you have only risen without obtaining anything. Thus it was proclaimed. To show the source of the teaching of no object, the youth Manjushri said to the Blessed One: The Buddhas are the nature of space, but space also has no nature. The basis of characteristics, the nature of definite liberation, to you who are without object, I prostrate. Thus, he praised and said, as it is said in the Sutra called The Ornament of the Light of Wisdom Entering the Realm of All Buddhas. From now on, we shall cultivate the path of non-abiding in such a way that there is no object, dispel the doubts of others who wrongly assert this doctrine, and show that it is established by reason and other scriptures. Thus, if someone thinks, 'If the Tathagata did not perceive the Dharmadhatu, how did he become enlightened by understanding it?' This is what logicians who are strongly attached to objects, who have no experience of practicing the reality of no object, think. Therefore, in order to show the reality of no object by reason and scripture: Since all dharmas are not completely established in every way, the object of the omniscient is reality. Knowing, reality, the field of activity, and the unborn nature of wisdom are what comprehend the Dharmadhatu.
