Therefore, by merely knowing it, one becomes completely purified in order to attain the unoriginated Dharma-nature of Nirvana. Thus, because of acknowledging the meaning of the verses, the Madhyamikas, who say that there is no origination in the ultimate sense, but that in the conventional sense, dependent arising is the nature of both affliction and purification, do not slander. Since it is difficult to prove with valid cognition that the meaning of the verses is other, it cannot refute. Therefore, the Yogacharas say that it is difficult to prove with valid cognition that the meaning of the verses spoken in the Sutras is different from that explained by the Madhyamikas, saying that the realm with beginningless time, which is the abode of all seeds, exists, and because of that, beings become afflicted, attain Nirvana, and become completely purified, that is the nature of other-power. Therefore, it cannot refute the Madhyamikas' statement that other-power does not exist in the ultimate sense. If, in the Sutras, it is said: The object of imputation, its reality is non-existent, other-power is existent, clinging and slandering, at these two extremes, discrimination will decline. If someone says that because it is said like this, other-power exists. The Yogacharas say that in the Sutras it is said like this, the object of imputation is actually non-existent, and the object of other-power is actually existent. Because clinging to the object of imputation as existent when it is actually non-existent, and slandering the object of other-power as non-existent when it is actually existent, ultimately discrimination will decline. Therefore, you Madhyamikas slander the object of other-power as actually existent, ultimately discrimination will decline, and our nature of other-power is actually existent. This is what they say. In order to answer what they say, the commentator here says: The meaning of the Sutras is because other-power does not have a name, and other-power also clearly shows that in name, it exists like illusion and dreams. In the Sutras, it is said: The object of imputation

The meaning of "non-existent imputation" is that there are no names of complete imputation on the dependent arising. The meaning of "dependent arising is non-existent" is that the nature of dependent arising is also not existent in the ultimate sense, but in the conventional sense, it is the nature of illusion and dream, so we will not fall into the extremes of addition and subtraction. In order to indicate its source, another scripture says: "By what and what names, what and what dharmas are explained, in that, that is not existent, that is the nature of all dharmas." Thus it is said, in the Holy Sutra of Entering Lanka, it is said: By whatever names of complete imputation, whatever dharmas of dependent arising are explained, in that dharma, that name is non-existent, that is the nature of all dharmas. Therefore, it is said that "the nature of all things that are counted is empty", which explains the source of the fact that there are no names on the dependent arising. Similarly, "There is no production and no creation, what are the conditions, and there is nothing anywhere, it can be said in the world." Thus it is said, in the Holy Sutra of Lankavatara, it is said: The so-called nature of dependent arising, whether in the present or future, will not be produced by other causes, and there is nothing that has been produced in the past, and the causes are also non-existent at any time and place. Therefore, it is said that the so-called nature of dependent arising is non-existent in the ultimate sense, but it can be said in the conventional sense. Therefore, it is said that "dependent arising is existent", which explains the source of the fact that dependent arising is non-existent in the ultimate sense, but in the conventional sense, it is the nature of illusion and dream. Now, in order to explain that the Madhyamaka school does not have the fault of "the extremes of addition and subtraction, and the loss of discrimination", there is another source. Similarly, "In that, there is no little birth, and there is no little destruction, seeing all actions are peaceful, there is no existence or non-existence." As it is said, the Holy Sutra of Lankavatara
