Even if the Buddha did not teach the Dharma, it is shown that there is no harm to fame because there is a conventional teaching. If someone thinks like this: The teaching of the Tathagata is, the author is the Tathagata who has conceptual thoughts, because it is the characteristic of sound, because it arises according to the thoughts of others. For example, like the teachings of the Shravakas and others. If you think like this, this is what the other party says, the teaching of the Tathagata is that the author has conceptual thoughts, therefore, the Buddha's teaching of no conceptual thoughts, the Mahayana, is not allowed to exist. These are respectively the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that can prove, and the example, arranged in order. For example, if the teaching of the Shravakas and others is the characteristic of sound, because it arises according to the thoughts of others, the author is the Shravakas and others who have conceptual thoughts, similarly, the teaching of the Tathagata is also the characteristic of sound, because it arises according to the thoughts of others, the author is the Tathagata who has conceptual thoughts. They say so. In order to answer what they said, the commentator here says: That is unreasonable, because the teachings proclaimed by the emanations are uncertain. Saying this, this shows that the other party's argument is uncertain. This is because if the teachings proclaimed by the emanations are the characteristic of sound, although they arise according to the thoughts of others, the author is seen to be without conceptual thoughts. Therefore, if it is merely the characteristic of sound, because it arises according to the thoughts of others, like the teachings of the Shravakas and others, the author of the Tathagata's teaching is the Tathagata who has conceptual thoughts. Or, if it is the characteristic of sound, because it arises according to the thoughts of others, like the teachings proclaimed by the emanations, the author of the Tathagata's teaching becomes the Tathagata who does not have conceptual thoughts, which is uncertain. Therefore, the other party's argument is unreasonable. This negates the distinction.

It is not permissible to teach, because of being non-conceptual, like a donkey. This inference is also answered with a fault. The passage stating "the teaching by emanations is uncertain" means that if the opponent says: "Buddhas cannot teach about non-conceptuality, because they are non-conceptual, like a donkey." This inference is also answered with the fault of uncertainty, as before, because it is seen that emanations, though non-conceptual, are allowed to teach. Therefore, in any case, because of being non-conceptual, will the Buddha teach about non-conceptuality, like an emanation? Or will the Buddha not be able to teach about non-conceptuality, because of being non-conceptual, like a donkey? This is uncertain. The opponent's proof is also unreasonable. The statement "the meaning of the reason is not established in itself" means that the opponent's reason, "because of being non-conceptual," is not established in the opponent himself, because the Buddha's non-conceptuality is not established for the opponent. If it is retorted, "Being established in another's position is the reason itself, therefore the meaning of the reason is not unestablished," then the answer is the same as before. If the opponent says: "Even if the Buddha's non-conceptuality is not established in our own position, it is established in your Madhyamika position, and that is the reason itself. Therefore, the meaning of our reason is not unestablished, because even if the reason is not established in itself, it can show the intended meaning, because it is established in another's position, like a dharma known in both positions." If they retort in this way, then the answer to that is that previously, during the examination of self and phenomena, it was determined that the dharma of a position known only in another's position cannot establish the meaning to be established, because it is not established in either position, just as it is not established in another's position. Because the inference is reversed by contradiction, the fault of the meaning of the reason not being established does not disappear.
