It is done. Because those two are contradictory, it is impossible for two contradictory things to exist in one entity. Therefore, it is said: Those two cannot exist in one entity, like light and darkness. Therefore, that is also not logical. Thus it is said. Because the refutation and examination are the same again, what has things and non-things? Like on a thing, or on a non-thing, those two are also illogical as previously stated, therefore that is also not essential. As it is said, if it is asserted that the basis on which things and non-things exist is Nirvana, is that itself a thing or a non-thing? If it is a thing, then Nirvana is characterized by old age and death, and it will become something that is conditioned and depends on imputation. If it is a non-thing, then the true virtue, the characteristic of the pacification of afflictions, is not possible, and the non-thing is not possible, and it is something that depends on imputation. Therefore, it is said that the refutation and examination are the same as before, so that is also not essential. Thus, I have shown that Nirvana is the nature of both things and non-things, and how such examination is unreasonable. Now, it should be examined how those who say that Nirvana is neither a thing nor a non-thing do not accept the doctrine. Therefore, for those who say that Nirvana is neither a thing nor a non-thing, it is said: Not a thing, not a non-thing, whoever shows Nirvana, shows it very well. If things and non-things are established, then that will also be established. By negating both, since it is neither a thing nor a non-thing, and because there is no subsequent inference showing the existence of things and non-things. As it is said, if the two, things and non-things, are established, then by negating those two, Nirvana, which is neither of the two, will also be established, because there is no subsequent inference showing the existence of those two, Nirvana is also not established, as shown. Now, the Nirvana which is neither a thing nor a non-thing.
