It is also the wisdom of the teacher and the wise man who explains it in the realm of action. Composed by the teacher Legs-ldan-byed. The commentary on the Root Verses on the Middle Way, called "Examination of the Noble Truths" from the Lamp of Wisdom, is the extensively explained twenty-fourth chapter, completed by the teacher Chenrezig the Hermit. Volume Seventy-Five. Now, similarly, by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side of emptiness, with the meaning of showing that nirvana is without intrinsic nature, the twenty-fifth chapter is begun. Here, the word "by" should also be understood as the meaning of the reason for making a commitment, and the meaning of combining it with the text that follows. The meaning of the words is the same as before. Among them, by taking the meaning of the reason for making a commitment, now, similarly, it is said by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side of emptiness. When the author was writing the first chapter, "Examination of Conditions," he made a commitment that all things are without arising, so here too, the author speaks in this way by taking the meaning of the reason for engaging in what was previously promised. Similarly, "similarly" means in the manner previously taught. Emptiness is one's own side. The opposing side is the side of the opponent. For example, it is said that things have intrinsic nature. The so-called "difference" is the premise put forward by the other party to prove that things have intrinsic nature, as follows: If all these are empty, there is no arising and no ceasing. What is abandoned and ceased, is considered to be nirvana? Through these words, for those who claim that there is no intrinsic nature, whoever has no intrinsic nature cannot attain nirvana, because there is no arising and no ceasing, like the son of a barren woman. In this way, it is shown that those who claim that things have no intrinsic nature cannot attain nirvana. The so-called "refutation" means that the twenty-fifth chapter is begun with the aim of refuting it.

Connect with 'o'. Having made the twenty-fifth chapter, considering the meaning connected with what appears below in the text, and from the aspect of showing that nirvana is emptiness itself. Thus it is said, the meaning of this twenty-fifth chapter examining nirvana, which appears below in the text, is to show that nirvana is emptiness itself, so from that aspect, it was said that way. What is the result of this chapter? In what way is that result obtained? Showing that nirvana is emptiness itself is the result of this, and that result is obtained by way of refuting the distinctions of the opposite side of emptiness. Therefore, in this context of connecting the chapter, the commentator only showed the first result, which is the means and what arises from the means. In order to show the distinction of the opposite side of emptiness that was mentioned, it is said here: As you wish, if all these are empty, there is no arising and no ceasing, because of emptiness, like the son of a barren woman, so it is thought. Thus it is said, that is, some people in their own sect say, as you Madhyamikas wish, if all these things are empty, there will be no arising and no ceasing. The words of that statement are shown, those are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, and the example, connected in order. For example, the son of a barren woman, because of emptiness, has no arising and no ceasing, similarly, if all these are empty, then also because of emptiness, there is no arising and no ceasing for that, so it is thought. Thus, in order to show that because there is no arising and no ceasing, it will become the fault of not attaining nirvana. Because those do not exist, the afflictions also have no arising and no ceasing, and the names and forms associated with those also have no arising and no ceasing, so from what abandonment and cessation is it desired to become nirvana? From the aspect of the realm of nirvana with remainder and without remainder. Thus it is said, arising and ceasing
