Since it is emptiness, to show that it is not a place of fear, like this. Whatever is dependent arising, that itself is said to be emptiness. Like the eye and sprout, etc., things in relation to causes and seeds, etc., whether their own entity exists or does not exist, and whether it is other or not other, and whether both exist or do not exist, in the ultimate sense, arising dependently from causes without inherent existence, thus it is said. Whatever is dependent arising, that is conventionally dependent on causes and conditions, arising merely as the nature of illusion, and because it is without inherent existence, there is also no arising in relation to causes and conditions, that is not a place of fear. As it is said: The one who fears the non-abiding is tormented, of ignoble birth, with bad friends, not having accumulated previous virtues, not having trained the mind. The accumulation of non-merit increases greatly for a long time. One becomes afraid of this Dharma and falls from this great meaning. Like that it is said. The arising of the eye etc. depends on the truth of convention, it is said, showing the way of arising merely as the nature of illusion in the conventional sense. That is also not a place of fear. That it is taught as emptiness is because it is free from inherent nature, thus it is said. Whatever is dependent arising, that is taught as emptiness. As it is said, whatever is the establishment of dependent arising in the manner of the two truths, that is taught as emptiness because it arises relying on other conditions, and in the manner of the two truths, it is also free from inherent nature, therefore inherent nature is emptiness, that is the conclusion. To show the source of that itself. In the Sutra Requested by the Naga King Anavatapta, it is said: Whatever arises from conditions, that is unborn, it has no inherent birth. Whatever depends on conditions, that is empty three, whoever knows emptiness, that is mindful. Thus it is said. Similarly, in the Sutra of the Descent into Lanka, Mahamati, considering the unborn nature, taught that all dharmas are empty, thus it is said. Whatever is dependent arising, that is taught as emptiness. As it is said, that itself is close in the conventional sense.

In order to establish things by relying on their respective objects of grasping, and to show that both truths themselves are without inherent existence, hence it is the Middle Way. Therefore, it is said: 'That which is dependently designated, that is the Middle Way.' In order to explain the manner of dependent designation, it is said: 'That which is called dependent arising, emptiness, is dependent designation.' Furthermore, in order to show that dependent designation is also designated by worldly and transworldly terms, hence it relies on its respective objects of grasping, therefore it is without inherent existence. Therefore, it is said: 'It is designated by worldly and transworldly terms, hence it relies on objects of grasping.' Whatever things are to be dependently designated, such as the eye, sprout, pot, felt, ordinary being, Hearer, Solitary Realizer, Bodhisattva, Tathagata, etc., these are designated by relying on their respective causes and conditions of grasping. The eye relies on the blurry appearance, etc.; the sprout relies on the seed, etc.; the pot relies on clay, etc.; the felt relies on wool, etc.; the ordinary being relies on karma and afflictions, etc.; the Hearer and Solitary Realizer rely on the path of accumulation and abandoning the obscurations of afflictions, etc.; the Bodhisattva and Tathagata rely on the grounds and perfections, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the eighteen unshared qualities, etc. Therefore, the worldly eye, sprout, pot, felt, ordinary being, etc., are also explained as emptiness because they are without inherent existence. The transworldly Hearer, Solitary Realizer, Bodhisattva, Tathagata, etc., who have seen the truth, are also explained as emptiness because they are without inherent existence. In the ultimate sense, these do not arise in any way from their conditions, therefore, they are explained as emptiness because they are without inherent existence. In order to show that this is the Middle Way, that is the Middle Way, because the Middle Way is the abandonment of the two extremes of arising and non-arising, existence and non-existence. For example, arising is also not
