After the previous part is approached. Below it says, "If all these are empty, there will be no arising and no destruction. Then, for you, the four noble truths will become the fault of non-existence." Like this, with six verses, it points out the words that can be attacked when the Madhyamikas say that all phenomena are without inherent existence in the ultimate truth. Then, one's own assertion that in the ultimate truth, phenomena only have inherent existence because they are subject to arising and ceasing, etc., is used to show the inference that establishes the inherent existence of phenomena. The so-called "by refuting that" means that the twenty-fourth chapter is composed based on that refutation. Combining it with the text below, in terms of its meaning, it is said that the twenty-fourth chapter is composed to show that the noble truths are without inherent existence. The text of the twenty-fourth chapter examining the noble truths says that the meaning here is to show that the noble truths are without inherent existence, so it is said based on this. What is the result of this chapter? In what way is that result obtained? Showing that the noble truths are without inherent existence is the result of this chapter, and that result is obtained by refuting the differences of the contradictory aspects of emptiness. Therefore, the commentator only shows the method and the initial result arising from the method in this context of connecting the chapters. To show the difference of the contradictory aspects of emptiness that was mentioned, it is said here: "According to the reasoning you have shown, if all these are empty, there will be no arising and no destruction. Because it is empty, like a flower in the sky," this is what is thought. This refers to the reasoning shown by you Madhyamikas, that if all these are empty, because there is no arising and destruction, then the four noble truths, etc., will become the fault of non-existence, thereby showing the words that can be attacked, the inference that establishes it. These are the subject and the dharma to be established.

The Dharma of establishment and the example are combined in order. For example, a flower in the sky, because it is empty, has no arising and ceasing. Similarly, if everything is empty like this, also because it is empty, there is no arising and ceasing, then there will be the fault of the Four Noble Truths and so on not existing, someone might say. To show that point, therefore, there will be such a fault: because there is no arising and ceasing, what is unborn is not suffering, so there is no truth of suffering; because there is no truth of suffering, from where does it arise? That all arising is the origin, and the origin does not exist, so there is no truth of the origin; if there is no origin, then the cessation of that origin does not exist, so there is no truth of cessation; if there is no truth of cessation, then the path that leads to cessation, the correct view leading the way, does not exist, so there is no truth of the path. Therefore, the Four Noble Truths will become a fault of non-existence for you. Thus it is said. Because there are no Four Noble Truths, yogis will not be able to obtain the fault of diligent effort in fully understanding, abandoning, realizing, and meditating, to show this. Therefore, yogis, those who are frightened by birth and death, regarding the Four Noble Truths, fully understanding, abandoning, realizing, and meditating on the objects, fully understanding suffering, abandoning the origin, realizing cessation, and the diligent effort of meditating on the path, that is unreasonable. Therefore it is said: Without the Four Noble Truths, fully understanding and abandoning, meditating and realizing, will not be reasonable. Thus it is said. To show the detailed explanation of the word "Noble Truth". The word "Noble Truth" is the truth of the noble ones, or the truth that makes one noble, or it is both noble and truth, so it is the Noble Truth. The word "Truth" is a synonym for reality and non-error. Thus it is said. Here, the two, meditation and realization, are reversed because of the composition of the verses, saying that such reversal is for the sake of fluent words.

The meaning of the intervening way is to show that cessation was mentioned earlier, and the path was mentioned later. Furthermore, in this way, since the four noble truths are absent, it would also lead to the fault of not having the four fruits of a renunciate. To explain this, it is said again, "Furthermore, since you do not have these, since these four noble truths are absent, the four fruits are also absent, namely, the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, and the Arhat." To explain how the four fruits of a renunciate would be absent without the four noble truths, it is said, "Because the firewood of the ninety-eight faults, such as the view of the aggregates, doubt, and holding vows and asceticism as supreme, should be burned by the fire of seeing through the path of seeing and cultivating the noble truths," so it is thought. If there are no four fruits of a renunciate, it would also lead to the fault of not having the four persons who abide in the fruits. To explain this, it is said, "If there is no fruit, there is no fruit-abider," namely, those who abide in the fruits of stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, and Arhat. If there are no fruit-abiders, it would also lead to the fault of not having path-abiders. To explain this, it is said, "There are also no stream-enterers." Stream-enterers refer to those who abide in the path of stream-entry and so on. Thus, if there are no eight types of individuals, it would also lead to the fault of not having the Sangha Jewel. To explain this, it is said, "Thus, the Sangha of the Blessed One's disciples is a field of merit for beings, unshaken by Mara and others, and gathers without relying on others, or because it gathers with morality, concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the vision of the wisdom of liberation, therefore the name Sangha, which is renowned in the world, would also disappear. If the eight types of individuals do not exist, then the Sangha does not exist." This was said. Those who explain the distinction between the path and the fruit, this shows the eight types of individuals.
