If it is said that 'to perceive permanence in impermanence' is the meaning of a mistaken view, then other debaters would say that the four mistaken views that accord with samsara are the meaning of 'mistaken view.' In response to that, the commentary here explains: If one grasps at 'permanence in impermanence,' etc., then since there is no permanence in emptiness, these also show that in conventional truth, they are mistaken views that accord with samsara. Therefore, it is said: If impermanence is grasped as permanence, impermanence is empty of permanence, and one thinks of permanence in it. If such grasping is mistaken, such knowledge is mistaken because it focuses on the meaning of mistaken view. This shows that the other debaters have added their own tenets. Now, in order to show that the Madhyamikas themselves consider it to be a mistaken view that accords with samsara in conventional truth, if that is the case, since there is no permanence in emptiness, how could grasping not be a mistaken view? Since permanence in emptiness is also empty of inherent existence, how could grasping at permanence in emptiness not be a mistaken view? This is the meaning of the concluding statement. For example, if one is free from desire in the three realms, how could one not be liberated? It is said in this way. If someone asks: How is it that in ultimate truth, permanence in emptiness is also considered to be empty of inherent existence? Because, as previously shown, it is unborn. For example, like nirvana. This shows the reason for 'Since there is no permanence in emptiness, how could grasping not be a mistaken view?' In short, these show that if one grasps at 'permanence in impermanence,' etc., then these are mistaken views that accord with samsara in conventional truth. Now, if one grasps at 'impermanence in impermanence,' etc., then since there is no impermanence in emptiness, these also show that in conventional truth, they are mistaken views that accord with nirvana. Or, if impermanence is grasped as impermanence, impermanence is empty of impermanence, and one thinks of impermanence in it. If such grasping is not mistaken, then

Therefore, if it is said, "Because it does not aim at the meaning of perversion, it is not perversion," this is also showing the argument desired by the other party. Now, in order to show that the Madhyamikas themselves consider that, in conventional truth, this is the very perversion that accords with nirvana. If so, since there is no impermanence in emptiness, how is clinging not perverse? Since impermanence itself in emptiness is also empty of inherent nature, how is clinging to impermanence in emptiness not perverse? This is the meaning of the words, because its dharma is conceptual thought, like clinging to permanence. This is the concluding statement. In this way, since there is an opportunity here, the meaning of the words that contradicts the meaning of the other party's commitment is revealed. For example, if a made pot is impermanent, why would a made sound not become impermanent? This shows the reason for "Since there is no impermanence in emptiness, how is clinging not perverse?" Now, in order to show that clinging to impermanence as impermanence, etc., is an inference that is in accordance with nirvana because these are conceptual thoughts. The words used here are: In ultimate truth, knowing form to be impermanent is perverse, because it is conceptual thought, like knowing form to be permanent. Saying this, these are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the proving dharma, and the example, arranged in order. For example, knowing impermanent form to be permanent, because that is conceptual thought, is a perversion that is in accordance with samsara, and similarly, knowing impermanent form to be impermanent, because that is also conceptual thought, is the very perversion that is in accordance with nirvana. If it is said that if one knows that conditioned things are empty, then those associated with conceptual thought are not certain, this is because the other party thinks that the Madhyamika's reason itself is conceptual thought.

These are the words saying, "It is indeed uncertain." Here, those with conceptualization who know "all conditioned things are empty," although they are conceptualization itself, since they see it as not inverted, then why is it merely conceptualization? For example, just as knowing "form is permanent," would knowing "form is impermanent" become inverted? Or, since it is merely conceptualization, for example, just as those with conceptualization who know "all conditioned things are empty," knowing "form is impermanent" is not inverted, it is indeed uncertain, so it is said. In response to that, the commentator himself says: Because that is also inverted, there is no fault. Those with conceptualization who know "all conditioned things are empty," also because it is an inverted view that conforms to nirvana in the conventional sense, there is no contradictory aspect, therefore there is no fault of my reason being uncertain. If that is the case, then the wisdom of emptiness is also not a cause for attaining liberation, because it is inverted. For example, just as knowing pleasure etc. in the objects of the internal sense bases, if it is said like that, then the opponents say: If that is the case, if knowing "form is impermanent" and those with conceptualization who know "all conditioned things are empty" are inverted, then the example wisdom of emptiness of the yogis is also inverted, therefore it will become a fault of not being a cause for attaining liberation, these are the words saying that. Those also, in order, are the subject, the thing to be established, the establishing property, and the example, for example, just as knowing pleasure etc. in the objects of the internal sense bases, such as form, because it is inverted, therefore it is not a cause for attaining liberation, similarly, the wisdom of emptiness of the yogis is also inverted, therefore it will become a fault of not being a cause for attaining liberation, so it is said. In response to that, the commentator himself says: Here, what is the meaning of that which is asserted, that is, not being a cause for attaining liberation.
