The limits of dependence, are they finite or infinite? Are they both finite and infinite? Are they neither finite nor infinite? These are not the case, because ultimately, the Tathagata is unborn. This is called the conclusion and the fruit of valid cognition, because ultimately, the Tathagata cannot be described as any of the fourteen undeclared objects, because he is unborn. To indicate its source, as it is said in the Sutra: 'Manjushri, unborn and unceasing, is the supreme word of the Tathagata,' as it is said. Having said this, it comes from the Sutra of the Ornament of the Light of Wisdom Entering the Realm of All Buddhas. Now, for those who are accustomed to conceptualization and have strong attachments, they will contemplate on the existence and non-existence of the Tathagata, etc.; and for those who have opened the eye of correct wisdom, two situations will be shown where there are no such conceptualizations. First, in order to show the first situation, some say: 'Ultimately, the Tathagata exists, because it is unspeakable that he does not exist after Nirvana.' Just as there is no son of a barren woman here, there is no such proof for something that does not exist, therefore, ultimately, the Tathagata exists. Saying this and so on, this indicates the former view, that these are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma of proof, the example of the opposite of the dharma, and the conclusion, arranged in order. For these reasons, it is explained that: the wise, whose minds are imbued with the habits of various conceptualizations, whoever tightly grasps attachment, then, regarding Nirvana, does the Tathagata exist? Does he not exist? Thus, they contemplate with conceptualizations. Does the Tathagata exist after Nirvana? Does the Tathagata not exist after Nirvana? Does the Tathagata both exist and not exist after Nirvana? The Tathagata is neither existent nor non-existent after Nirvana, thus they contemplate with conceptualizations.

Thus it is said. In order to explain the second chapter. For those who have opened the eye of true wisdom, regarding the emptiness of inherent nature, whether the Buddha exists or does not exist after nirvana, such thoughts are unreasonable. Because the wisdom of conceptual thought does not arise where there is no object, so understand it this way. Thus it is said. Therefore, here too there are the faults of the thesis and the example, this is the conclusion, and it is also the result of valid cognition. Because the opponent's thesis is that there is no existence after nirvana, so it is not established. Like the previous example of things having inherent nature, the body of the Tathagata, saying this also has the fault of not being established. Now, in order to explain that those who are attached to elaboration cannot see the Tathagata. Therefore, regarding such existence and non-existence, permanence and impermanence, the form body and the dharma body, the body of scriptures, characteristics and the basis of characteristics, cause and effect, wisdom and what is realized, emptiness and non-emptiness, etc., all those elaborations, those Buddhas who have transcended elaboration, those who elaborate on the endless, all those who are defiled by elaboration, will not be able to see the Tathagata. Those who are defiled by elaboration, whose eye of wisdom has deteriorated, just like a blind person cannot see the sun, they will not be able to see the Tathagata, because the Tathagata can only be seen from the nature of dharma. Thus it is said. In order to point out its source. Thus it is said, whoever sees dependent origination, sees the dharma. Whoever sees the dharma, sees the Buddha. Thus it is said, in the Sutra of the Noble Salu Jangpa it is also said so. Or, those who think that the form body has excellent marks and signs, and the collection of teachings, belonging to the twelve parts of scripture, those are the Tathagata, those are also elaborations, therefore in order to explain that they cannot see the ultimate Tathagata. Or, the Tathagata is the form body.
