If one states the reason by saying that since everything is not predicted, it is like ordinary people. In response, one can say: Even so, your own teachers are not certain. Here, even the teachers of the non-Buddhists see that everything is not predicted. So, just because everything is not predicted, like ordinary people, would the Tathagata not be omniscient? Or, just because everything is not predicted, like ordinary people, it is uncertain that your own teachers would not be omniscient, so that reason is also not valid. One should confidently say that the Tathagata knows without error, which is both the conclusion and the result of valid cognition (pramāṇa), because by knowing without error all that exists to be known and as it is, it is established as omniscient, one should confidently say. By asking what is meant by the word "everything," it is to show that the opponent's reason, "because everything is not predicted," is not established, therefore the question is raised as to what is the meaning of that word. If asked in this way, if it is life, etc., or the substances of the six categories, or primordial matter and spirit, then if the opponent says that the word "everything" refers to life, etc., as desired by the Digambaras, or the substances of the six categories as desired by the Vaisheshikas, or primordial matter and spirit as desired by the Samkhyas. To negate all of these, one says, "Those are not existent in that way, so those are not everything," because life, etc., are not existent in that way, because they are unborn, like a flower in the sky, therefore, because those are not everything, one cannot say that the Tathagata is not omniscient because he did not predict those, because the basis of the reason is not established. If it is the universal, if the opponent says that the word "everything" refers to the great universal such as existence itself, or horse itself, or cow itself,

The so-called 'temporary universal' refers to the meaning of a word that has no difference for all things and some things. If it is said that because it is not specifically predicted, therefore it is not omniscient. In order to refute it, (the text) says: He knows those things as they truly are, as being without self-nature. The Tathagata knows those universals as they truly are, as being without self-nature, and predicts their lack of self-nature. Therefore, the meaning of the opponent's argument is not established. If asked: How does he know that those universals are without self-nature? (The text) says: In that way, it is both teaching and will become an indication. This is said from this treatise itself. Some logicians say: The scriptures of the Tathagata are not spoken by an omniscient being, because they have an author, like the treatises of the Vaisheshika school and others. Some non-Buddhist logicians say: The scriptures of the Tathagata, with the reason of having an author, say that he is not omniscient, therefore, the Tathagata who proclaims it is also not omniscient, this is a statement that establishes it. Those are the subject, the dharma to be established, the dharma that establishes, and the example, combined in order. For example, the treatises of the Vaisheshika school and others, because they have an author, are not spoken by an omniscient being, therefore, the rice-eaters and others who proclaim it are also not omniscient. Similarly, the scriptures of the Tathagata, because they have an author, are not spoken by an omniscient being, therefore, the Tathagata himself who proclaims it is also not omniscient. They say this. In order to answer what they said, the commentator here says: The meaning of those propositions should also be distinguished, and then criticized as before. This says, what exactly is the meaning of that proposition that is temporarily 'not spoken by an omniscient being'? Is it that he does not know everything but only knows a little? Or does he not know even a little? If you want to consider it like the previous examination, then what does he not know?

desire. If it is said to be beyond the senses, then it should know it, because it is knowable, just like placing a flawless jewel, etc., in one's own palm. However, if one wants to follow the latter examination, then the former position is harmed, and it is harmed by fame, because it is admitted that it is a person. Examples such as ordinary people are not permissible in the world, because they also know some things. Therefore, after analyzing the meaning of their commitment, it is shown that faults should be pointed out as before. The Vedas are with an agent, because they are to be read, like the treatises of the Vaisheshikas, etc., therefore the Vedas are also with an agent, so the reason is uncertain. Therefore, by saying that the reason "because it has an agent" is uncertain, it is to show that the opponent's reason is uncertain. Therefore, wise people also show the inference to prove that the Vedas are also with an agent. They also combine the subject, the property to be proven, the proving property, the example, and the conclusion in order. For example, the treatises of the Vaisheshikas, etc., are with an agent because they are to be read, similarly, the Vedas of wise people are also to be read. Because they are with an agent, it is established that the Vedas are also with an agent. Therefore, in the scriptures of the Vedic speakers, it says: "What is not spoken in the Vedas? What is not manifest in the Vedas? Everything should be said to be non-existent. There is no hearing like the Vedas." Because of this, they think that the Vedas are omniscient, therefore, for the time being, because they have an agent, like the treatises of the Vaisheshikas, etc., the Tathagata's scriptures are not spoken by the omniscient, therefore, is that revealer, the Tathagata, not omniscient? Or, because they have an agent, wise people think that the Vedas are omniscient, similarly, the Tathagata's scriptures are spoken by the omniscient, that revealer, the Tathagata, is omniscient.
