The five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, dependent origination, the three doors of liberation, the three knowledges, the four noble truths, the four noble lineages, and so on. The Blessed One knows all these and other dharmas that transcend the faculties. Because they are knowable, it is like placing a flawless jewel in the palm of one's hand. Thus, by the power of independent recollection, it is established that the Blessed One is omniscient. Alternatively, the meaning of the word "omniscient" in the Blessed One's statement, "I am omniscient," is that "omniscient" exists because he said so, and it is consistent with his words. Therefore, the meaning of "omniscient" should also exist like the word "omniscient." If one wishes to understand it according to the latter examination, then it will harm the former view and contradict popular knowledge. That is to say, if the opponent insists that the Buddha knows nothing of what he has promised, then this will harm the previous argument and contradict common sense, which is unacceptable. How does it harm the previous argument? Because it was previously admitted that the Buddha is a human being. Previously, the opponent had argued that the Tathagata is not omniscient because he is a human being, like others. Since it was previously admitted that he is a human being, then to assert now that he knows nothing at all would cause harm. Because if he is a human being, it is impossible for him to know nothing at all, so this assertion contradicts the previously established argument and therefore cannot be established. How does it contradict popular knowledge? Because examples such as ordinary people are well known in the world, but these examples are not applicable because they also know some things. Previously, the opponent had said that the Tathagata is not omniscient because he is not a human being, like others. If the example of knowing nothing at all is taken from sentient beings such as ordinary people, this contradicts worldly common sense. For example, animals here know food and shelter.

And, the four consciousnesses of sleeping and sexual intercourse, if they only know these, what need is there to mention that others know some places? Therefore, that vow is also not established because it has the fault of contradicting worldly conventions. Furthermore, the opponents say that the conventional Tathagata, born into the lineage of Śuddhodana, is established as a human and a speaker, so he is not omniscient. That statement is also not established. As it is said in the Holy Dharma White Lotus Sutra, in the presence of the Blessed One: "From countless eons ago, I have awakened to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." Therefore, even from the perspective of convention, he is a completely pure deity, and since he is not a human, he is also not established as a human. Similarly, in the Sutra Revealing the Secret of the Tathagata, it says: "Peaceful Intelligence, from the night the Tathagata awakened to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment until the night he completely passed into the realm of nirvana without remainder, the Tathagata did not speak even a single letter. Why is that? Peaceful Intelligence, the Tathagata is always in equipoise; he does not exhale, nor does he inhale, nor does he discriminate, nor does he contemplate. Just like that, by the power of past aspirations, spontaneously, speech arises that satisfies the minds of sentient beings, and he also teaches the distinctions of the three vehicles." Therefore, even from the perspective of convention, because he does not have verbal expression, he is not a speaker, and therefore he is not established as a speaker. Therefore, we do not have the fault of contradicting our commitment. If others say that the Blessed One does not know the past, future, and present, and what is included and not included in them, as they know them, then that is a re-establishment of what is already established, because they know the knowable wrongly with wrong knowledge. If the opponents say this: Great Lord, All-pervading Lord, Foot-eyed Lord, Increasing Lord, Yellow
