Combine them in order as examples. For example, that which is not a Tathagata, because it does not exist before birth, the near-taking of the Tathagata is not taken as near-taking. Similarly, the Tathagata does not exist before birth, so it is not taken as the near-taking of the Tathagata. If samsara has no beginning and no end, and the Tathagata is also not to be spoken of as the same or different, because the before and after are not reasonable, then the meaning of the reason "because it does not exist before birth" is not established. If it is said that these outsiders are words of fault-finding that the reason of the Madhyamikas, "because it does not exist before birth," is not established in meaning. They say, if samsara has a beginning and an end, and the Tathagata can also be spoken of as the same or different from the aggregates, then the before and after are reasonable, and your reason, "because it does not exist before birth," will also be established. But we Buddhists do not think so, so the meaning of your reason is not established. They say so. In order to answer what they said, here is an explanation. That is not good, it should be known that the Tathagata, the object of consciousness established in name, does not exist before birth, because it is conditioned, like a pot. It is said that these are the subject and the dharma to be established, and the dharma that can establish and the example, combine them in order as examples. For example, because a pot is conditioned, it should be known that it does not exist before birth. Similarly, it should be known that the Tathagata, the object of consciousness belonging to name, is also conditioned, so it does not exist before birth. In this way, what is not established in name is spoken of as a reason, and the Tathagata is also shown to exist before the aggregates of the Tathagata, so that seems to be not established, which is a reasonable conclusion. Thus, I, with name...

Because the establishment of non-existence prior to the birth of the Tathagata is itself stated as the reason, and because you have no inference to show that the Tathagata exists prior to birth, my reason appears to be unestablished, but it is actually clear and the only one that can establish it. Therefore, the statement, "What does not exist without dependence, how can it be taken as appropriation?" shows that neither the Tathagata nor the non-Tathagata, whatever does not exist without depending on the aggregates, does not take the aggregates as appropriation. Now, in order to show that what is not taken by the taker is not an aggregate, and that the Tathagata without aggregates is nothing, another verse is shown, namely, "Again, others," etc. The statement, "What is not taken, how can it become appropriation?" shows that what is not taken by the taker is not an aggregate. So, what is it like? The statement, "What is taken by the taker itself will become appropriation" is also like that. In conventional terms, if it is like that, then the previously shown principle of "What does not exist without dependence, how can it be taken as appropriation?" shows that it is impossible. "The nature of the one without appropriation, the one without appropriation, because it is not the taker," this statement means that the meaning of the words that the one without aggregates is not the taker is the meaning of emptiness. In order to show that such a Tathagata is nothing, it is said that "the Tathagata is nothing," and in order to show a detailed explanation of it, the word "again" is said, which is the meaning of including the taker and the taken, and the statement "the Tathagata has no nature of the Tathagata" is said, because the appropriated aggregates have no nature of the taker Tathagata, so the Tathagata is not self-nature and substantially existent. In order to show that inference, here, due to the clarity of the meaning of the words, the inference is that there is no self in the five aggregates, because it is made, like a pot.

It is said: These are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, and the example, to be applied in order. For example, a pot is made, therefore there is no person in it, just as the five aggregates are also made, therefore there is no person in them. Likewise, the nature of dependent origination, the nature of impermanence, correctness, error, the object of knowledge of a doubter, joy, the cause of complete suffering, the nature of true realization, and so on, should also be stated as reasons. This is the reason for the previous proposition, the concluding words to be applied as appropriate. The Sthavira school also refutes, in ultimate reality, the Tathagata exists only, because it is not stated that the Tathagata does not exist. Here, whatever does not exist, the Tathagata has said does not exist, like the self completely conceived by the non-Buddhists. The Tathagata is not said to not exist, because when others asked whether the Tathagata exists after Nirvana, it was not answered, because it was said that it was not to be answered. Therefore, in ultimate reality, the Tathagata exists only, therefore that is a self-established inference, therefore there is also the fault of no contradiction or error. This is the statement of the Sthavira school establishing the existence of the Tathagata in ultimate reality with the reason that the Tathagata does not exist among the fourteen things not answered by the Bhagavan. These are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, the example of dissimilar dharma, the combination of close application, and the conclusion, to be applied in order. Here, like the self completely conceived by the non-Buddhists, whatever does not exist, the Tathagata has said does not exist, that does not exist, the Tathagata is not said to not exist, and when others asked whether the Tathagata exists after Nirvana, in order to prevent non-existence, it was also said that it was not to be answered.
