Ra. The final cessation has occurred, it will not connect with the first existence. The final cessation has not yet occurred, it will not connect with the first existence. These words have already been explained. If it is said that the final existence is ceasing, will it connect with the first existence? To this, the inference has also been explained. As said before: If the final is ceasing, and connects with the first arising, then the ceasing becomes one, and the arising becomes another. These words have already been explained. Or, the final existence that is ceasing does not connect with the first existence, because it is ceasing. For example, like the final consciousness of an Arhat. These words show that the inference that the final existence that is ceasing does not connect with the first existence is different from what was said before. Those that are the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, and the example, are arranged in order. For example, the final existence of an Arhat, because it is ceasing, does not connect with the first existence. Similarly, the final existence that is ceasing, also because it is ceasing, does not connect with the first existence. Therefore, according to the manner as explained above: If the ceasing and the arising cannot be connected simultaneously, then what will that become? On which aggregates will death occur, there also will arising occur. This is not desirable, if one wishes to arise from connecting with the first existence, then connecting with it is also unreasonable, this has also been explained. Therefore, just like this, if the final existence that has ceased, has not ceased, and is ceasing, does not have a connection with the first existence that is arising. Others say, the final existence that has ceased, has not ceased, and is ceasing, does not connect with the first existence, what does that do to us? For the time being, admit that the arising of the first existence exists, and it will arise from where it can reasonably arise, therefore the continuity of existence is also reasonable, even if one admits that things exist, one will not fall into the view of permanence and annihilation. Then, how will it become now? If that is the case, then on which aggregates will death occur?

Moreover, it would be unreasonable for birth to occur only within those (ceased, unceased, and ceasing) states, because it has been previously shown that ceased, unceased, and ceasing things are incompatible with things that are being produced and with connection, and there is no other way of being produced other than what has been previously shown. Therefore, admitting that one aggregate (skandha) has both death and birth is unavoidable, because there is no other way to escape this admission. This is undesirable. If one thinks that it arises from the first existence and connection, it has already been shown that this is incompatible with connection. Therefore, the assertion that the origination of the first existence is reasonable and that its continuity is also reasonable is unacceptable. The previous examination has shown that the first existence and connection do not exist by distinguishing the three aspects of the last existence: ceased, unceased, and ceasing. This subsequent examination shows that even though those three aspects are themselves incompatible, the opponents still claim that the origination of the first existence exists, and therefore the continuity of existence is also reasonable, which is a refutation of that claim. The difference lies in this. Therefore, according to the mode of proof as shown above: Thus, in the three times, the continuum of going is not reasonable; in the three times, if there is none, how can there be a continuum? This should be concluded. Therefore, since the first existence and connection are incompatible, the statement that the continuum is neither cut off nor permanent is not ultimately true, and it does not harm the admitted view. This is the conclusion in the context of promise and refutation. Therefore, if it is thoroughly examined in this way, the last existence, whether ceased, unceased, or ceasing, is incompatible with the first existence and connection, so the continuum of existence is not reasonable in the three times. How can the continuum of existence, which does not exist in the three times, be considered the continuum of existence? If the continuum of existence does not exist, then how can arising and ceasing exist? If arising and ceasing do not exist, then the opponent's time and so on cannot be established. Therefore, the opponent's statement that the continuum is neither cut off nor permanent is not ultimately true, and the Madhyamika's explanation that the cause of existence is not reasonable in the ultimate sense contradicts the admitted view.
