Because it relies on one thing, it is said that any self-nature is like that. Those are also combined in order as the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma of proof, and the example. For example, the self-nature of any arising or ceasing, because it relies on one thing, should not be other than that, similarly, arising and ceasing also, because they rely on one thing, should not be other than that. Therefore, it also becomes the fault of the meaning of the reason not being established and the meaning being contradictory, and this is also the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. Because the opponent's reason is the dharma of things, it is said that that is not established, because it is the cause of arising and ceasing, so the root of that reason is not established in the ultimate sense, but in the conventional sense it becomes the fault of contradiction, thus it is shown. If confused, do you think you see arising and ceasing? This sentence is the Madhyamika's sentence to welcome the opponent's doubts. If confused, you clearly see arising and ceasing now, why do you think there is none? As an answer to that, the commentator himself said that what is seen by the wisdom of ordinary people is true, but not in the ultimate sense, because in the ultimate sense arising has already been stopped, and without arising there is no possibility of ceasing. Therefore, arising and ceasing are seen by the sleep of ignorance. This sentence shows that it is only seen by the wisdom of ordinary people. If it is said that those are seen by ignorance, but not in the ultimate sense, then how can it be determined? This sentence is the opponent's question. As an answer to that, the commentator himself said that that answer has already been answered, if it is not satisfied with just that, then it must be said, like this, if in the ultimate sense arising and ceasing rely on things, then they should also be seen, then does that thing arise from things, or does non-thing arise from things, or does thing arise from non-things, or does non-thing arise from non-things?

The term "arising and ceasing" refers to the four possibilities of arising and ceasing. Because one does not arise from another, seeing these is seeing through ignorance, but it is not actually so. This is what is being shown. Among them, first, to show that the first possibility is unreasonable. Among them, first, in the ultimate sense, a thing does not arise from a thing, because it is a thing, like something already born. Having said this, these are arranged in order as the subject, the property to be proven, the proving property, and the example. For example, something already born does not arise from a thing because it is a thing. Similarly, a thing does not arise from a thing because it is a thing. To show that the second possibility is unreasonable, first explain the opponent's view. If it is not the case that it exists before arising, but it is a nominal thing that appears later, can it be said like that? After saying this, now the other party says that a thing does not exist before arising, but it is said to be a nominal thing that appears later. Therefore, your previous example of proof, "like something already born," is unreasonable. This is their statement. To answer this question, the commentator himself explains: Even so, a non-thing does not arise from a thing. The non-thing called "sprout" does not arise from the thing of the nature of a seed, because it does not exist before arising, or because it is not something that can be spoken of, like something other than it. Having said this, these are also arranged in order as the subject, the property to be proven, the proving property, and the example. For example, the non-thing called "sprout" is different from non-things such as a vase and a blanket, because it does not exist before arising, or because it is not a thing that exists or does not exist, so it does not arise from the thing of the nature of a seed. Similarly, the non-thing called "sprout" also does not arise from the thing of the nature of a seed because it does not exist before arising, or because it is not a thing that exists or does not exist and can be spoken of. Alternatively, a non-thing does not arise from a thing, because it does not exist, like a rabbit's horn. This is to explain that the second possibility is unreasonable.
