If struck by a hammer, the material properties of a pot will become different. Since it is not destruction, no reason is established, and there is no example either. Thus it is said. Your reason, if it exists, will arise, that is, if struck by a hammer, the pot will be destroyed, and striking with a hammer is the cause of the pot's destruction, this is to be proven. Our Madhyamaka view is that if a pot is struck by a hammer, the material of the pot, such as tiles, etc., will have different characteristics, so striking is the cause of producing other different characteristics such as tiles, but it is not the cause of the pot's destruction. Therefore, your reason, if the cause of destruction exists, destruction will arise, this is not established for us, therefore it is not reasonable. Furthermore, your example, if the eye exists, one can see objects, so the cause of seeing objects is the eye, this is also not established for us in the ultimate sense, therefore your example is also not valid, so it is not reasonable. For other schools, the effects caused by causes such as tiles being struck by a hammer, etc., are considered to be related to the agent of the striking. That is to say, some schools other than Buddhists and some schools among the heretics, they believe that the effects caused by causes such as tiles being struck by a hammer, etc., are not caused by the agent of striking who produces themselves. Therefore, striking, etc., is the cause of producing the effects caused by causes such as tiles being struck by a hammer, etc., but it has been established that it is not the cause of the destruction of pots, etc. Therefore, your reason, if it exists, it will arise, none of these are established, so it is not reasonable. This has been explained. Here, if the opponent says this, any act of striking with a hammer can both destroy the pot and produce tiles, therefore our reason, if it exists, it will arise, there is no fault of not being established. In order to answer this previous view raised from them, here the commentator himself strikes with a hammer

It is said that the very thing that destroys the pot also produces the tile, which is unreasonable because one thing cannot do two different things at the same time. For example, one lamp cannot do two different things at the same time, such as illuminating and darkening; one person cannot do two different things at the same time, such as chewing flour and blowing a flute, and so on. If someone asks: Have you not seen that a fire at the same time both dispels darkness and produces the change of cooking? This is the question posed by the other party, meaning: Have you not seen in the world that one agent does two different things at the same time? As an answer to this question, the commentator here says: We see that it produces the change of cooking, but we do not see that it dispels darkness, because darkness is merely the absence of light. Fire can cook rice and other foods, producing changes such as warming, softening, and discoloration, which we see. But we do not see that it dispels darkness, because darkness is merely the absence of light, it is not a real substance, so it cannot be found. Moreover, when we previously examined fire and firewood, we said: Where is the lamp? Where it is, there is no darkness. When examining the senses, in order to strongly prove this point, we said: The example of fire is not appropriate. These words show that the lamp cannot dispel darkness, and the fire cannot burn firewood. The end of the action is also contradictory. Because on our side, when the opposite of the form called darkness—light—appears, the later moment of darkness does not arise because there is no cause, and the earlier moment disappears by its own power. Therefore, the agent of darkness is not fire. This means that in our Madhyamaka view, light and darkness are not different entities, they are merely states of form. When the opposite of the form called darkness—light—appears, the later moment of darkness does not arise because there is no cause, and the earlier moment
