Having said, "Thus contemplate," the Samkhyas consider the aggregate to be real. If it is an aggregate that produces a result, then there is no production of a result. Also, the fact that aggregates such as causes, armies, forests, and vehicles are real has already been explained. Therefore, if there is no result, how can there be a real aggregate of causes for the result? Therefore, the Samkhyas' example is like the nature of the limbs of an aggregate, because it is not established. And the reason itself is not other than the limbs. It has already been explained that things that are nominally existent, such as causes, armies, forests, and vehicles, are not to be spoken of as being the same or different. Therefore, since it is not established as being other, the Samkhyas' proof is not established. To show the source for demonstrating that aggregates are not real, it was composed by the teacher Aryadeva, therefore, it is like this: 'Because all names in the world appear as aggregates, therefore things are not existent, and aggregates of non-things are also not existent.' It is said like this, because all things in the world that are called names appear as aggregates, therefore, things other than aggregates are not existent, and if there are no things, then aggregates are also not existent. Here, the meaning of the refutation is that by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side that are incompatible with the demonstration of the non-existence of time's own nature, the non-existence of the own nature of cause and effect is demonstrated. This is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition (pramana). In this context of the twentieth chapter on examining cause and effect, the meaning of the refutation, the result of valid cognition (pramana), is to be seen as in the nineteenth chapter on examining time. Now, by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side that are incompatible with emptiness, the nineteenth chapter was composed by the power of the meaning of demonstrating the non-existence of time's own nature. Regarding the demonstration of the non-existence of time's own nature, here, when composing the twentieth chapter, the opponents think that in the ultimate sense, time is non-existent, because it is the cause for the accomplishment of the result.

By refuting the stated differences of the opposing side that shows time to be without inherent existence, it is shown that cause and effect are without inherent existence. What is the merit of showing that cause and effect are without inherent existence? In order to find and refute those who say that this showing is merely the completion of a dry speculative treatise, therefore, here too, it should be proven from the source of reliable scriptures. Therefore, the Blessed One said in the Sutra of the Noble Transference of Existence: "The guide, wherever, the view of collection itself, is well shown, the wise ones, then, show it as the place of approaching the ultimate truth." And so on, whatever is said, those are established. Thus it is said: The guide, the Buddha Blessed One, in whatever sutra well shows the view of collection itself, the wise Bodhisattvas show that as the place of approaching the ultimate truth. Moreover, the place where the Blessed One shows the collection is shown as the means of entering the ultimate truth. Because collection, accumulation, is not a real thing, therefore that itself is the ultimate truth. Thus, because there is no object in the non-real. Therefore, here, this treatise itself has been proven by other occasions to be unborn. Thus, the establishment of those reliable scriptures is the merit and source of showing that cause and effect are without inherent existence. Therefore, it is not merely the completion of dry speculation. These objects that are explained by this treatise are also the wisdom of the Acharya and the skill of the commentators. The chapter on Examining Cause and Effect, the twentieth chapter, a great commentary from the Commentary on the Root Verses on the Middle Way, the Lamp of Wisdom, composed by Acharya Lekdenjey, is completed by Acharya Chenrezig Drultshuk. Now, similarly, by refuting the differences of the opposing side of emptiness, in order to show that arising and ceasing are without inherent existence, the twenty-first chapter is composed by the power of meaning, called By Power.
