If it is said like this, showing that cause and effect are without inherent existence is the fruit here. By refuting the differences in the aspects that show that time is without inherent existence, that fruit can be obtained. Therefore, by explaining and making detailed distinctions, in this connected occasion, only the method and the first fruit arising from the method are shown. In order to show the difference in aspects of what is said that time is without inherent existence, after the immediately preceding distinction, because time is not established, in order to show the fault of reasoning, if time is established, there is no fault. Therefore, in order to show that the desired meaning can be established, it is said here, etc. Previously, in the occasion of the immediately preceding distinction of time observation, the Madhyamikas showed that time cannot be established whether it is dependent or independent. Because time is not established, in order to show the fault that the reasoning of others is that in ultimate truth, all inherent existence of things is merely existent, because it is the cause of manifestation, this fault of non-establishment, therefore, here, if the time of others is established, there is no fault of non-establishment of reasoning. Therefore, in order to show that one's own intention can be established, it is also said here in this way. In order to show that, it should be known that in ultimate truth, time is merely existent, because it is the cause of the establishment of the fruit. From here on, even if there is a collection of seeds, etc., if there is no season, sprouts will not arise, but if there is, they will arise. Whatever does not exist has not been seen as the cause of the establishment of the fruit. Therefore, by the power of the reasoning as stated, in ultimate truth, time is merely existent, so it is said. Those are the subject, the dharma to be established, the dharma of establishment, the similar aspect that follows, the opposite dissimilar aspect, and the conclusion, connected in order. Here, like a rabbit's horn, whatever does not exist has not been seen as the cause of the establishment of the fruit, that is non-existent, the season is that even if there is a collection of seeds, etc., if it is not there, sprouts will not arise, but if it is there, they will arise, because it is the cause of the establishment of the fruit, so the reasoning says.

The holder of the earth says that, in terms of ultimate truth, time is truly existent. In order to refute the distinctions of the contradictory side that shows time to be without self-nature, thereby showing that cause and effect are without self-nature, it is said in that way, and in order to answer that, this is explained here with commentary. Among them, for the time being, for those who, from the perspective of tenets, believe that the result arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions, it is said, "This is explained for those." In order to refute the tenets of the Samkhya and Vaisheshika schools, etc., who believe that from the aggregation of causes and conditions, the result arises from a previously existing state, this first verse is declared. That is to say, if the arising of the result itself is reasonable, then the arising of the result would also make time exist; if the arising of the result itself is unreasonable, then how could the time of the cause of the result exist? Thus, if the result arises from the aggregation, then does that result arise from the existence or non-existence of that aggregation itself? From both, that arising is unreasonable. Among them, for the time being, in order to show that the first examination is unreasonable, the first verse is declared in conjunction. In order to show that itself, it is said, "If it arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions, then the result is in the manner of the other." This shows the addition of the tenets of the other, that is to say, the Samkhya and Vaisheshika schools, etc., who believe that from the aggregation of causes and conditions, the result arises from a previously existing state, so if in the manner of those people, the result arises from the previously existing state of the aggregation of causes and conditions themselves. Now, in order to show that it is unreasonable. How is that? If it exists there, then, if the result exists in the aggregation, then, how can it arise from the aggregation itself? Because it will not arise, it will become a contradictory fault. Existence and arising are contradictory, one side prevents the other, so it is considered that it will become a contradictory fault. In order to show that itself, if it exists, why does it arise? If it arises, then existence
